It's very much a single market nowadays. People aren't here for albums unless the album has a huge amount of hype e.g Gaga/Adele.

I'm glad Kelly will be hitting platinum though, it's been a long time guys we should all celebrate the way Kelly would want us to, with a huge drink!

Depending, if you want to count DYWS or not. I remember Jason saying his people had to go through a lot of "red tape" to get Kelly. I'm sure RCA/Sony negotiated a nice piece of that $ pie.

Without DYWS sales:
505,100 (from singles) + 839,000 (album) = 1,344,100 (equivalent albums sold)

With DYWS sales:
715,000 (from singles) + 839,000 (album) = 1,554,100 (equivalent albums sold)

If you wanna divide DYWS's sales in half:
610,100 (from singles) + 839,000 (album) = 1,449,100 (equivalent albums sold)


I was looking at the calendar, there's 27 sales weeks left this year. She's got enough time to get that 1 million from albums alone! Looking at her schedule I hope she promotes the 4th single on The Voice and X Factor around the holidays to get that boost!! Good thing she's welcomed on all of these shows and by then I don't think ABC has a hold on her since Duets will be long over.

She would have to sell around 6k each week for the next 27 weeks to get 1million.

She can do it.

Matchbox Twenty passed her today with a bullet nearly twice the size of hers and 2+ million AI on her. They could very well block her at the top.. they're perfect for HAC. Also Wide Awake is doing well on HAC.. Kelly has a nice spin increase going but it's not as big as Stronger's was when it flew to the top. Matchbox Twenty just released the lead single off an album people have been waiting five years for (their last album was even only a greatest hits album), so I fully expect them to rise quickly. Katy Perry is naturally going to rocket up as well. However, given how slow Dark Side is, I'm guessing she'll rise as they peak and gently nestle her way into the top, where she'll remain for weeks.

How's matchbox twenty song doing on pop? Well there's definitely much hype to begin with since their last album was 5 years ago. However if a song does not connect well with the public, radio will abandon it sooner or later. We have seen examples. Judas? Madonna lead single? Furthermore, I don't see Katy as a threat. Katy has way higher spins than Kelly. If Katy were to reach #1, she will sooner or later drop in spins and then Kelly will take over!
