Saying one thing and doing another is hypocritical, therefore speaking out against animal cruelty and supporting it by buying materials that result of it is hypocritical. It may not be hypocritical if you buy only fur by animals that are also used for meat and killed without pain, but if you buy the one which involves what has been depicted by the video above, it is hypocritical.

I do not own mink, but I own rabbit. My friend has a fox scarf made from a fox shot by a local farmer when it tried to raid his chicken hut.
Supporting animals rights and wearing fur is not hypocritical. It depends on how far your support spreads. I wear fur, but I donate a LOT of money to animals rights charities each year. That doesn't make me a hypocrite, especially when most animal cruelty charities do not involve themselves in the wearing or eating of animals, but rather cruelty by brutal owners.

This is why I ****ing hate atrl sometimes. Use you reading skills. I was saying that buying fur and calling themselves an animal rights activist is as hypocritical as advocating slavery and saying you're not racist.
I did NOT say "buying fur is like slavery", so read before you try to turn people against me.

It definitely isn't as hypocritical though...

Ok, that's something completely different then. Maybe we should specify what kind of fur we mean next time ![:)](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif)

2010: Discussing animal cruelty in China, Morrissey tells The Guardian, "You can't help but feel that the Chinese people are a subspecies."

He said this?
**** him and his entire life's work. Hope his masters burn in flames and his music is forgotten forever. Idiot racist trash. He deserves to be devoured by bears. See how he likes the animal kingdom then.

I don't really believe that he's racist, at least not intentionally, I think the Chinese comment was twisted a bit. I'm pretty sure he was referring to the Chinese people that do torture animals, not the entire race.

That's equal to advocating slavery, but insisting on not being racist.

Take your own advice about reading comprehension first. Making slavery and racism analogous to wearing fur is putting the severity of both on the same level, and it's disrespectful to the very people who experience the ramifications of racism. No different than Morrissey comparing eating meat to pedophilia.

Seriously, I can't at people defending his statements. He clearly cares more about the animals than the basic rights and dignity of human beings, and while animals deserve respect, they do not deserve it at the expense of ethnic groups and victims of rape and other abuse...

**** this, I NEVER said that wearing fur is equal to racism. I only stated that it is equally HYPOCRITICAL to do racist things and claim not to be racist. NOT equally bad or equally hurtful or anything. And this is what I hate on here, you say something completely different, then your words get twisted and you end up being the asshole. What's your point in doing this? Your trying to put words in my mouth that I never said and trying to make me look racist.
YOU should look up what hypocritical means imo because I never said what you understood.

Anyone with a decent education knows that there are certain classes of proteins only found in flesh that humans need to function. Its Biology 101. ![psyduck](images/smilies/images/smilies/psyduck.gif)

Then why is it that on average vegans outlive meat eaters even though we don't eat your "certain classes of proteins"?

The effect of animal hormones is exaggerated in the body. Few can actually be absorbed, and those that do are broken down as foreign.
Eating organic foods, which I do, puts a limit other amounts of antibiotics used.
Eating meat is NOT the #1 cause of heart disease. High cholesterol is, but just because meats contain it do not make what you said true.
Most meat contains E. coli? So does the human gut.
Excess sugar is much more likely to cause diabetes than meat, and vegetarian diets are much more likely to contain sugar.
Men's Health credible? My sources... Nature. WHO.
Why not see what they say are the dangers of a vegetarian diet if not done properly, which most vegetarians don't?

Name a plant high in cholesterol. You can't. ![lmao](http://atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/lmao.gif) Heart disease is caused by animal protein.

It's true! There's people out here fighting for animals to have rights when their fellow humans don't. Like what kind of logic? People are more important than animals! I don't see why that's hard to understand.

No. It's not a matter of death.
It still doesn't change the fact that meat has been part of our diet for centuries.
A TON of things that we take part in is not a matter of life and death, but we still indulge.

A 2006 study by the University of Oxford found no significant difference in life expectancy of vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Indeed, the same study found that many of the he health benefits of a vegetarian diet could be attributed to confounding factors, such as vegetarians being less likely to smoke and drink alcohol to excess.
Egg yolk is the food highest in cholesterol. Butter is #4. So unless you are vegan, the risk exists for you too.
If you ARE vegan consider the potential health problems: - increased risk of certain cancers, including colorectal cancer
- significant reduction in Vitamin B12 intake, which itself can contribute to arteriosclerosis
- reduction in bone density! potentially leading to osteoporosis and other bone density disorders
Not to mention... The significant taste reduction... I'm about to tuck into my Sunday roast. A massive slab of beef covered in gravy. Doesn't matter what anyone says or shows me, nothing, and I mean NOTHING, will stop me from devouring it and having seconds.
