There are other racial/ethnic/cultural groups that have criticized and continue to criticize their own -- what if Gaga went on Twitter saying White people are the most judgmental in the world? She's surely been criticized for her clothing and looks. What if one of the Jersey Shore or Sopranos cast said something like that about Italians after they were protested by their own? Or JLo about Latinos after Mexicans were up in arms about her being Puerto Rican playing Selena? I can't imagine those groups responding to such remarks about themselves the way that we do.
After hundreds of years of being the most harshly judged and stereotyped groups, we do it to ourselves without even thinking. Miguel has convinced himself that he is oh so different because he wears his hair in a pompadour instead of a low fade and wears tight pants, he's not even looking at the fact that it's nothing Black people haven't seen, accepted and welcomed with open arms before -- Little Richard, James Brown, Frankie Lymon, Luther Vandross, Freddie Jackson, Cameo, George Clinton, Earth Wind & Fire, Prince, Grace Jones, Rick James etc. all of these people that were and are loved dearly by the Black community no matter how eccentric or androgynous their style was. After the mainstream turned on Michael and Janet, we continued to support. Even people like R. Kelly and Chris Brown, we forgave and supported, yet, we're the most judgmental? GTFOH. Seriously.
I really like Miguel's music, but, I'm side eyeing the hell out of this.

To play Devil's Advocate: Isn't a BIT hypocritical for you to criticize Miguel for lumping blacks together and then fill an entire post with "we" statements lumping all black people together?

Don't complain about segregation or racism if you practice the same exact thing.

If all you got from my post was "Yup , I agree" you need to go back to school
I clearly mentioned every race has people like this and said that maybe the black people who are judgemental voice their opinion much more than those who aren't. Because the judgemental people are more vocal about this, it creates an impression that black people in general are in fact judgemental against people in their own community.
Miguel heard the voices of the "judgemental black people" a lot more than the ones who defended his choice of clothing. Therefore, he concluded that black people are overly judgemental when regarding another black person and tweeted that generalization. We know that this is not entirely true because there are black people who are not judgemental.
Stop with the selective hearing. Be more open minded because not everyone is itching to say derogatory comments about black people in general.

Would you prefer "you people?"
Splitting hairs here, but, when talking about my own, it doesn't feel right removing myself from and speaking as an outsider on issues that affect my community on a broad scale. So yeah, I will say we and us as opposed to you all and them; think of it what you wish.

Meh being Indian, i disagree. Its probably indians. Trust me, they speak badly and judge any other race, White people, Black people, even other indians of different skin colours. Its all probably down to the caste system in India or whatever. Tho i can see where Miguel is coming from.

You had me at the first sentence.
What a bold ******** ass statement for him to make. I don't know when it became the cool thing for black people to just automatically start cosigning all of these ******** generalized ass statements that people make about us, but I'm starting to see it more and more and I'm not sippin that Koolaid EITHER.

MOST judgmental? No.
But he wasn't too far off. People IN GENERAL are too judgemental, not just blacks.

Laughs at you guys for being all like "I agree to some extent" or "he's kinda right" when you know what he said is completely true. So you can stop with your efforts to be politically correct
