I haven't actually listened to it yet
If we review it, I'm definitely going to write a review. She's a fascinating artist from what I've read.

holyground: music in review

5.0
"mediocre"
| L.A.LOVE (la la)
Fergie
After 8 years, Fergie seems like she's ready to return to the music scene solo. After a debut album that spawned 5 ginormous hit singles, expectations were of course, through the roof. Sadly, this song falls very flat.
Firstly, the song is basically an ode to places around the world. I mean, I'm not expecting much lyrically from her music, but this is just lame. Also, it just doesn't feel like a comeback at all (a feeling we're starting to get familiar with this year). There is nothing commanding, screaming that she's the HBIC (London Bridge), nothing sexy and slinky (Glamorous) and nothing heartfelt (Big Girls Don't Cry, but we probably don't want a ballad as a lead single). It just doesn't scream "hey, the lady who just slayed your 2006 is back to slay you again". Not to mention that the "la la la" chants are more of annoying than catchy.
Also, the production is mediocre, courtesy of DJ Mustard. Initially you might think his productions are fine and quite a bop, but when you've heard one, you've heard them all. Could will.i.am, a.k.a. the world's most dreaded producer, have done a better job? I don't know, but he could've offered something more interesting I guess.
The only good thing about the song is Fergie's delivery in the pre-chorus. That's pretty much it. And I guess when I feel like it I could get down to the beat.
Overall, we all wish this is just a buzz single ala Chasing the Sun. This just feels sketchy and unpolished, and we all know she is capable of so much more.

Okay, so when Little Machines ends in two days we'll start with Tove Lo. Lemme add that to the review schedule.

Fergie is back to the music scene with a worldwide anthem, and this time she's solo. Everyone had high hopes and expectations for Fergie, but if this song proves anything, it's that she lost it.
From the bland lyrics, the average beat and the extremely horrendous rapping, L.A. LOVE fails to serve its purpose as a comeback single. Credit when it's due, the song has some catchy highlights.
But overall, Fergie might just need to pull a Hilary Duff and claim this one is a buzz single and release the real, but better, lead single.
Highlight/s:
- Lay back, slow down
Better represent when we come to your town

The amount of reviews though, people got tired of trying to sabotage the scores.

Shouldn't Album's be up for 2 weeks instead of one? is that not how they were doing it in the beginning?

"Yellow Flicker Beat"
This song ohhhh woo lawd Jesus Christ this song. The intro starts with some humming which is kind of odd but can be overlooked easily and you get used to it. Then we get Lorde singing. This is not some normal ladidadida singing no this is some 'in-a-trance-putting' sitting . Once we get to the chorus Lorde takes us to church hallelujah Then the 2nd verse comes and woo lawd we get to the chorus again. The outro is the same humming as the outro and overall matches the song.

 | Indie pop artist, Lights, has released her 3rd studio album called "Little Machines". The album definitely makes you go into an interesting journey with Lights. I didn't say that's necessarily good though. Her vocals aren't bad, but, considering she's an indie artist, they fit very well with the sounds and the production. Now, the big problem for me is that the album was a bit boring, mostly the second half which tends not to have many changes in sounds. The best track for me was the lead single "Up We Go" which is a total different sound from the rest of the album and I guess, this fooled the fans a bit, thinking the album will be more pop, but it isn't. "Muscle Memory" definitely takes the "Filler" award as it just seemed to me like it was just there and there was nothing special about it.
Overall, this is not a bad album, it's pretty good, it has some amazing to decent tracks, not many fillers, but it feels a bit too long and boring in my opinion. I have to mention that I consider "Up We Go" a gem tho. Lights has chose the right singles for now, I hope she will choose "Slow Down" next. I'm curious to see what she has next in store for us. |

I think you're cool. We have longer to do albums than singles.
I'm planning on doing a Little Machines Review also.
