A bit of a shame, because about 40% of artists working today would be better off just releasing singles constantly, therefore allocating more resources to those and none to filler tracks.
Like, The Saturdays are worthless for album tracks. They should just release singles constantly until they have enough to bundle into a "greatest hits" or something. I can think of a few mainstream acts who would really benefit from that sort of business model.

Yeah, I don't think albums are the be all end all. Some artists would be much better off releasing singles constantly. But things come and go out of style. Even Shakespeare. Albums were kind of not in style before the 1960s.

Oh wait I had always hated Cheryl Cole's album ''3Words'', but now I'm discovering some gems like ''Rain On Me'' and ''Make Me Cry''

Sales were destined to die due to illegal downloading; now they have a cushion.
Streaming pays per play, and amount of streams are skyrocketing too. It'll take some years, then they'll be on point with how much artists made from downloads and album sales.

Yeah, streaming is kind of incredible. An avenue of consumption so convenient it makes even piracy not worth the effort.

lol what's the point, they're all so basic.
Their pop is the best kind of guilty pleasure trash. At least GA had the decency to play with song and hook structure.
Literally none of them are talented, they are the most manufactured garbage, and they are probably the lowest selling girl group currently making music.
Still though, something about them just slays. Making good music would detract from that unidentifiable factor.

Giorgio Moroder is often hailed as the godfather of electronic music and disco, but talking to triple j this week, the man shed some light on his more recent work with Daft Punk and a possible collab with Lana Del Rey.
In town for Sydney's Vivid Live festival, the 74-year-old disco don spoke to triple j's Zan Rowe about an ambitious new project he's got in the pipeline:
"I have a ton of guys who want to work with me but my manager says I should not tell because you tell and then it doesn't happen, but one of the girls I'm pretty much going to work with is Lana Del Rey. I'm basically doing an album so I have about 15-20 people I'm thinking to collaborate with on the songs."

Wooo can't wait for this.

Girls Aloud had Xenomania creating all of their hits, with such a team failure is not an option

Well, vinyls, 8-tracks and cassettes all faded away, so eventually 12" will do so as well. Streaming will be eventually overtaken by something big in the future as well. Music and everything with it evolve. You have to learn how to adapt.

It will keep selling tho. Lana always thrives at the lower region of the chart for a LONG time.

I'm getting annoyed, though. Streaming is at it's most vital years replacing the main way to get music; and much of the people who track it (Soundscan, Billboard, Spotify, etc) are barely giving information.
It'd be nice to know how much streams per week there is; how much streams per week on Spotify there is to see it increase year by year.
Billboard also said 'Ultraviolence' had the highest opening this year for an album on Streaming, but a list of the top albums period would serve justice.
I also need to know albums that have passed Streaming milestones so far.
Aside from Billboard's Streaming Chart + Nielsen's Yearly Report that shows 10 Most Streamed songs we don't really know much on the stats and such.

60% of the Sats are amazing vocalists, so there's no excuse. Even if you are gonna go generic pop can you at least give us some complex harmonies?

no they aren't I've been watching live videos and they're mostly awful.
Rochelle can like, sometimes give Rihanna-level mediocrity, but the rest are write-offs. Mollie and Frankie shouldn't even show up, Una is giving Katy-Firework teas, and Vanessa isn't the worst, but she can't hold a candle to her studio versions.
Oh god there's no excuse they're actually deplorable, but there is something about them that I just love. I can't explain it, they're so important to me

There's no way that she will sell 1-1.5 m by the end of the year without a hit single, lol

Ke$ha loves the bottom of the charts too but Warrior still hasn't passed 400k US.
Lana is DOA.

Maybe something has changed in the last few years, but Roch-Van-Una were killing those live lounges and I've heard them harmonize before and it was pretty good.

I remember in my 7th grade Math class, my teacher talked about the CD format and other technologies being replaced in the future (I can't remember how a Math discussion turned into a topic about that), and that was back in like 2000 or 2001.
