I agree x100 with what Linda is saying. There simply is no connection in music at all these days. Yes, it is fun to get up and dance to catchy tunes and just have a great time, but the music world is just so emotionally absent it makes me cringe. I just don't know how people can enjoy an artist who can't even pour emotions into a song/album and be authentic about it.

For example, Iggy Azalea. I support her as an artist because she is Australian and a white female rapper in the music business but what she raps about is utter f**king garbage. Same thing goes for Ariana Grande, no connectivity to music because the appeal of being a 'pop star' is what attracts people like these to the business. Singing is one thing, but to actually pour your soul into a record, produce and atleast TRY is another thing.

I agree with Linda 100%. I don't know how cheap artists who create 15-minute-of-fame songs can live with themselves. I wish we can go back to the time where radio was dominated by artists like Alanis Morrisette and rappers like Tupac, where their albums reflected their personal problems with themselves and the world.

But like I said before, dance songs are great but if thats all an artist is there for, I just can't connect with them.

All of this. At least Alecia is one of the mainstream artists who really bring their emotions into their music. She, Adele and Taylor.

This is a threadworthy discussion, to be honest.

I agree with Linda's opinion mostly, but she gives herself too much credit for the success of M!ssundaztood.

The singles were selling that album (GTPS, DLMGM, JLAP, and FP). Only GTPS was produced by Linda Perry.

Yeah, most album was produced by Linda, but I don't think that people were actually checking the other songs before they bought the album. They simply bought the album because they liked the singles.

it's good that she gets the word out in her own way even though it seems like it's only to stay relevant. or at least that's the impression i get from her. to me she just comes off as too fame-hungry to be sincere about stuff like that. but again, the word has to be spread somehow, even when it lacks authenticity.
