Plot twist is that the winner is going to be announced with this week's results.

Hugamari's Comments
Remember: SCREAMING @ ELEPHANT MAN. Anyway, it’s definitely reggae feeling, but is it racist? Nah. The ai ya ya’s may be a bit excessive, but it did get the point across that it was a reggae song. I also see you promoting dat kushT. Good for you I personally thought given the circumstances you did pretty well, although nothing groundbreaking.
ImARudeBoy: I’m sorry, but all I could think of is Can’t Say No by Conor Maynard, so I was getting teen pop from this, not rock. I guess the song encompasses the stereotypical attitudes of rock stars, but this is like Rockstar 101 at best. (Although Rockstar 101 is in my Rated R trinity if you wanted to know )
EatmeZayn: You just tugged at Taylor Swift’s wig a little bit with this entry, in my opinion. Honestly though, you slayed this challenge. I like the words used in this challenge, and I could definitely see it working on country radio. I mean, I don’t really have much to critique here. You are on a damn ROLL though.
Midnight: I couldn’t tell the genre from the lyrics. Given the challenge, I guess that’s not really a good thing. I don’t think they are bad by any means, I just do not know what genre you were trying to achieve here.
Hustler: You had…folk, right? This seems like an upbeat country song. Is that what folk is? Lord, maybe I just don’t know what Folk is. Anyway, the song was fun. Somewhat choppy, but fun regardless.

Nait's Comments
Remember - "Live Your Dreams (Reggae Mix)"
Quote:
I get that you were trying to combine the relaxing feel of reggae with your freedom of thought, but as much as the theme fits the challenge, the lyrics don't. The lyrics, as much as I would believe it would fit perfectly with a reggae theme don't embody it as well.
Aside from that, your lyrics aren't bad, but they all share this similar theme in all your works. I would like to see you expand your thought process because so much of this over and over again is going to get repetitive and boring.
So, to sum it up, for reggae, it's okay. The message is worthwhile, but it's just being reinterpreted so many times, so try to either mix it up or aim for more out-of-the-box ideas. You're Remember, I know there is a different side of you that we haven't seen in your lyrics; I wanna see that next time.

ImARudeBoy - "Girls All Around the World"
Quote:
I don't get the sense of "hard rock" or "metal" anywhere in your piece. Contrary to belief, hard rock and metal is all about expressing emotion and channeling it with force. This could be a Contemporary R&B or Acoustic piece before it was a hard rock piece.
The lyrics are EXTREMELY simple. I mean, anyone could've written this. This definitely doesn't read like lyrics that could've come from an amateur songwriter; not even a budding songwriter. I mean, you have structure, but that all goes out the window with how simplistic these lyrics are.
So, I would start from scratch and understand the depth of your challenge. Whatever genre you are given should be your focus, not making it sound like something else. I would also attempt to understand what other prominent artists' from said genre usually sing about and how they incorporate their emotions into the songs. I don't want to assume this was the wrong genre for you, because you are capable of expressing so much more.

EatmeZayn - "Blue Barnyard"
Quote:
Not the most subtle way to tell us what genre you're in, but I'll roll with it. You, at least, attempted to tell a story with your song that was also heartbreaking; what most country songs are usually known for.
But, as heartbreaking as you thought it was, I didn't feel the emotions. It was too forced: a "blue" barnyard, constant mention of tears, shattered, broken, etc. pieces of your heart. It was all just obvious that it felt not only unoriginal, but unemotional.
It's so much easier to shape your actual feelings into a country song instead of concocting a story to make one. When you tell a story with your music that's truthful and with feeling, that's when the message gets through and our hearts cry. Right now, I feel for you because this piece wasn't strong enough... not enough feelings to sway how I feel right now, though...

Midnight - "Black Tie Event"
Quote:
I read the title thinking that you finally might've toned it down, and you didn't. Hip-Hop is known for being cocky and crude; you're very explanatory and sesquipedalian (I finally found a word that fits your writing style).
It needs to flow, especially being a hip-hop song, flow is the key to it being a good hip-hop song. Aside from the hook, I was just missing where the syllables matched up and how it was all suppose to sound.
As a final note, obviously saying "don't morph your style into the challenge just because I say to" would be nonsensical because you seem to do that every single time. So, I'll just say until you get a challenge that asks you to do what you normally do, I'm not going to give you the high marks that I want to. Sorry...

Hustler - "Come Here Baby"
Quote:
I don't know many folk artists who would embrace lyrics like these; none I know. But, you kept it very simple, which I appreciate for the folk genre, but you also made it very urban for folk.
Yes, they drink, but they don't talk about being sober, yes they smoke but they could care less about the ashtray; focus on the theme at hand, don't bull**** it around. Folk is all about making a simple topic like love or life or friendship or whatever easy to understand yet poetic to the ear. I'm actually shocked you and Midnight got pretty much the opposite genres IMO.
Next time, if there is one, I would listen to artists in your genre and hear what they talk about and how they convey it. Then, I would see if there is a way to convey my message as if it were a folk song.

IARB is safe, since Doodledot is the elim, and Nait and I agreed a top 5 would be really cute.

Challenge 6 ~ Halloween Challenge (designed by Adem!)
Hopefully this challenge will be a nice little fun and easy one before what could potentially be the finale! Your task is simple; write us a scary song. It would be preferred if you made it more Halloween scary and less I-can't-pay-my-rent scary. And that's it, really. Since the challenge is pretty simple and easy we really want you to focus now on everything you've learned throughout the game about writing lyrics in general! Can you show us how much you've changed and improved from this experience?
The deadline for this challenge is Friday, October 25th, 2013. Please try to get it in, we're even giving you an extra day. I might start penalizing late entries in my rates so just try as hard as you can to get it in on time.
This is a fun challenge, so don't be a bore! And remember, don't be trite.
