Agreed... I'm shocked, but they made their decisions. So many people signed up then either got themselves banned or completely went MIA in the thread and challenges without saying a word to me. Oh well. Their loss.

Throughout her 45 years career, the one and only three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep has always shown that acting is never fully polished, which is proven by her 2011 win for "The Iron Lady". She kept on growing as an artist and kept on continuing to transform herself easily into such a wide range of characters. The photo on the left shows a young Meryl, after her first acting attempts, already showing an unmatched talent. The reason why I chose the photo is that it shows some kind of vulnerability, something we don't often see in photographs, and it is a rarity when a celebrity can truly embrace that in their representations. The viewer is immediately led to the actresses' eyes which express all the feelings she has been put through, all the failures and the successful attempts, everything that made Meryl, be Meryl - a one of a kind person that the world has came across.

Episode Seven:
Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking...

First, I'd like to commend those of you who are still in the competition. We've had people dropping like flies due to non-submission since the start. The four of you remaining have remained committed, and your work is not going unnoticed.

For this challenge, you are tasked with presenting a concept piece for a Spring fashion line. I recommend using a combination of visuals and written description to convey your idea.

You may incorporate up to 5 images in your submission. You are NOT being asked to come up with the whole line, just a concept for ONE full piece (full outfit) that could be included in the line.

Don't forget to give your line a name as well. I will be judging the entries purely off creativity and overall presentation. Don't be afraid to take a risk and think outside the box. I'm not asking you to rehash something that's already been done.

You have until 9pm Pacific Time on Thursday 4/7 to send your submission to me by PM. There will be no exceptions if your entry is not submitted on time. I am giving you more time this round because I want you to be able to do your best.

Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking…

For my concept piece I decided to make it part of my Spring fashion line entitled, Desire, which is a celebration of female sexuality and is inspired by two fictional characters, the iconic super villainess Poison Ivy, and the nymphs of Greek mythology. I know floral aesthetics for Spring are SO cliché so instead of the traditional petals and garden flowers I chose to incorporate harsher plants, like thorns and ivy. I selected different elements to create a head-to-toe look I like to call Temptress of the Forest.

What I appreciated most about your entry was that you took a risk and presented something with a whole lot of originality behind it. I definitely had visions of what a fashion show revolving around the Desire aesthetic. Here's hoping your models don't get pricked by thorns (and that they don't have to wear REAL poison ivy ), but I would definitely want to be front row at that fashion show!

Outfit

Red is a colour that works for every season. It is a seductive colour, but at the same time it gives someone the feeling of elegance and confidence in their own body and outfit. I have chosen the Gucci dress above as it perfectly embodies the feeling of spring - freedom and happiness. To me, that's what the dress expresses. The floral theme is not emphasized as much as in many other couture creations, giving a sense of sexy innocence (if I could name it so) to the model. The bag and the shoes give the entire outfit a more provocative feeling, a sense of fierceness and passion. Therefore, the outfit is perfect for a spring garden party, although the bright red of the bag and shoes would be a bit too obvious. It's a risk worth taking in order to compliment that beautiful dress.

I was really intrigued by the red dress you chose to represent your line. It's GORGEOUS and the diagonal cut down the chest is something we don't see a lot. I would have loved to see a little more of an overall visual package presented (similar to the other entries), and I also would have liked for you to name your line to give it more character and personality (as that was part of the challenge). Still, you submitted a quality entry and I had a lot of difficulty judging this round.
