115 · BECKY G, "Shower"
Weeks on Chart: 1 Week
Peak Position: #19
Debut Date: July 26, 2014
Becky G debuts on the list with the catchy bubblegum rap "Shower". It might not be a well-produced pop track but I actually believe this one's an irresistible bop. I still wonder why it gained a significant amount of plays on my iPod, but it flopped big time on my countdown.
♫ "You light me up inside like the 4th of July. Whenever you're around, I always seem to smile." ♫

114 · MAROON 5, "Animals"
Weeks on Chart: 8 Weeks
Peak Position: #08
Debut Date: October 11, 2014
Countdown regular Maroon 5 appears on the list for the first time this year with "Animals". As I am not one of the die hard fans of this band, it took me weeks before appreciating this track. It's not bad, but not the Maroon 5 hit I'd dig any time of the day. And yeah, the screen cap is disturbing.
♫ "Baby, I'm preying on you tonight. Hunt you down eat you alive. Just like animals, animals, like animals-mals." ♫
2013: CIMORELLI, "Believe It" |

113 · ECHOSMITH, "Cool Kids"
Weeks on Chart: 6 Weeks
Peak Position: #14
Debut Date: August 30, 2014
Indie band Echosmith debuts on the countdown with the cool track "Cool Kids". As I am not familiar of the band, I had hesitations on giving this track a try. It actually took months before I listened to it. It wasn't a bad decision, I guess. The indie and pop fusion worked big time.
♫ "I wish that I could be like the cool kids. 'Cause all the cool kids, they seem to fit in. I wish that I could be like the cool kids." ♫
2013: ZEDD f/ HAYLEY WILLIAMS, "Stay The Night" |

112 · MAGIC!, "Don't Kill The Magic"
Weeks on Chart: 1 Week
Peak Position: #20
Debut Date: June 07, 2014
MAGIC! is definitely one of the breakthrough bands who made it big this year. After the smash single "Rude", the band followed it up with another worthy reggae fusion track. It might not be as remarkable as "Rude", but this one proved me that they won't just be a one hit wonder.
♫ "Just don't kill, don't kill the magic. I'm not ready to give up just yet. We could stay until we both forget." ♫
2013: FALL OUT BOY, "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light 'Em Up)" |

111 · HOT CHELLE RAE, "Don't Say Goodnight"
Weeks on Chart: 4 Weeks
Peak Position: #07
Debut Date: May 24, 2014
Ever since I came across "I Like It Like That", I've been a follower of Hot Chelle Rae's releases. It's good to hear something fresh from the band, and I admire that they still incorporate their chill pop punk take on their releases. Hoping for more releases this coming 2015.
♫ "I see love in your eyes. And if you see it in mine, let's wait 'til tomorrow, Don't say good, say good. Please don't say goodnight." ♫
2013: MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS f/ WANZ, "Thrift Shop" |

HUNTER HAYES, "Invisible"
Best Song With A Message
I don't know why a lot you are thinking "All About That Bass" is going to win. Anyways, I'd go with Hunter Hayes touching release as this year's Best Song With A Message. I admit I am not a big country fan that I even omitted this track the time it was released. Not when it just became popular in the Philippines through a reality show. Along with inspirational lyrics, Hunter's vulnerable and sincere take on the song made it more effective.
RUNNER-UP: UNION J, "Beautiful Life" |
