Taylor Swift's third consecutive multi-platinum album worldwide, "Speak Now", spawned six (6) singles over-all, with two #1 singles ("Sparks Fly" & "Ours"), and the others peaking within the top 3 (#2 "Mine" & "Mean", #3 "Back to December") of Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. All of them topped the Mediabase Country Airplay Check.
That makes 5 singles. What was the other one again? Ah the Pop/HAC/AC only single, "The Story of Us". Unfortunately, Taylor Swift was not successful on pulling out another "Love Story" or "You Belong With Me" with "The Story of Us" (#21), nor did she even scored a top ten hit on Pop with multi-format precedent-singles, "Mine" and "Back to December".
After "The Story of Us", Swift never sent another single on Pop radio. Which has me wondering, which among these singles would have been most likely successful on pop radio?
"Mean"
"Sparks Fly"
"Ours"
Your thoughts? Why do you think "The Story of Us" flopped?
Sparks Fly is one of my least favorite songs on the album but I've always believed that if it was released as the lead single and sent to both pop and country radio, it would have smashed hard.

With wonders of first week sales, promos, PROPER MUSIC VIDEO, and hype, it could've been her first Billboard Hot 100 #1.
Oh well, she missed her chance (*still sobbing). Hopefully her 4th much-anticipated album will be released flawlessly.
Sparks Fly would have had the most support on Pop, but in general Taylor isn't as significant as she used to be on Pop radio. Mine and BTD's performance on Pop were less than stellar, their gains most likely came from the Fearless era.
Ours could have had a higher singles peak if it had been added to Hot AC and AC. but releasing it as a single showed how desperate and clingy BMR was. My bitter state runs deep with that song.
