My third favorite song in the rate. Someone else is going to have point out the flaws in this one because I sure as hell can’t find any. Okay, I’ll give you Taylor’s acting in the music video but THAT’S IT. Also why is that Steven/Jason or whatever his name is from Laguna Beach in this? He’s barely an upgrade of stoneface in Tim McGraw. Not acceptable. Not adequate. A song this perfect should have the biggest actors in Hollywood begging to be cast in the video. I think that the last chorus is what really gets me in this song. The “Cause I'm not your princess, this ain't a fairytale, I'm gonna find someone someday who might actually treat me well” line is just perfect. This placement is not good enough.

Sidenote : This song beat Dead Flowers and Just a Dream at the Grammys.

The problem that I have with this song is that I don’t feel like the vocals blend well together. Carrie’s voice is more pure while Randy’s has a certain rawness to it. Also, I really wish Carrie tried a more understated approach with the chorus. The “I Told You So” belts just felt out of place on the song. I actually didn’t know that Carrie did a solo version of the song because I only heard the duet on the radio and always just skipped over it on the album. Now’s a good time for it to leave.

As we’ve said before in the thread, it’s hard not to see this song as anything but a Cowboy Casanova repeat. Every Carrie album so far has had one, high-energy uptempo single that is backed up by an explosive chorus and an undeniable catchiness. Unfortunately for Blown Away, it’s probably going to be this song. It’s not that it’s a bad song, it just doesn’t match up to the other uptempo singles from the previous albums. It’s nowhere near as fun as Last Name, as catchy as Cowboy Casanova or as plain perfect as Before He Cheats. I’m ready for her to move on to Blown Away, See You Again and Two Black Cadillacs as singles.

As I’ve already said before in this thread, I’m not a huge fan of this song. It’s not bad obviously, but it doesn’t really stand out to me in Taylor’s whole discography and especially not in Speak Now. The one thing that I truly love about this song though is how the choruses build on the one that came before it. It doesn’t follow the usual structure of a song but of course it still manages to flow really well. The song was actually released to itunes two weeks early due to an early leak. It debuted at #3 and just recently passed the 2 million mark in sales. I still hold my opinion that if Sparks Fly was released as the first single instead it would have smashed hard.
