I think the point being made by a lot of people here is that it doesn't matter if this goes number 1, it's just getting to some of us that he is releasing something so blah and safe sounding after releasing something interesting like "Climax".

Well, obviously Climax wasn't as successful as he wanted it to be. The best choice to stay relevant then is to make a POP/DANCE record.
And Scream is really great
So many talking in a tense that they have heard the 15-17 tracks that will make the album. Not gasping, though.
Like said, it's not shocking this is being put out, a pop track was always going to be. (and it's DEFINITELY not because "Climax" didn't smash.) That song is currently No. 1 on it's respective genre chart and the fact that it made it so far on the Hot 100 without much Top 40 support/sales is further impressive. Let him and his label get this quick hit out of their system and let's wait to see what else is to come. Thanks.
I don't think "Climax" was meant to be some big hit single. It did what it meant to do, create buzz for the project. It was the "Papers" of the album. That song also hit #1 on the R&B chart and was top 40 on the hot 100. Now it's time for the pop single and then he will release a song like "Hey Daddy"
Why? He has more than enough money and fame. I thought this album might be a real statement, but judging by that clip he's still concerned about chart relevance over good music... Disappointing.

Usher isn't flopping right now.
"Climax" has done decently in both sales and airplay, and Usher hasn't even properly promoted the single. I bet this single gets more treatment than "Climax." He did the same thing with "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" and "Hot Tottie." "DJ" got all the promo while "Hot Tottie" was left in the dust.

Hot Tottie was EVERYTHING. Lord. That song was pure fire. God, I can't deal with how much I love that song.
