#1 in 20 countries, and the best selling debut album this year. Second best overall behind only adele. The first album to dethrone Adele from the top spot too.
1,5 million albums sold in less than 3 months. We should wait till the end of year and then go into action. Now hun,how about we get out of here?
Those are terrible, it's corny and contrived...like the product of a meeting between PR executives deciding what the "deep" song on the album should be about so they come out with this ambiguous track about "inner strength" that doesn't really mean anything, filled with cliches and no real emotion. No offense, but maybe you should try branching out your musical taste? Like, just because someone is your fave doesn't mean they're good at everything. I'm a huge Madonna fan but I will admit at times her lyrics can be very basic.
I KNOW a Madonna stan didn't come for someone else's song writing...
Don't let memory play games with your mind
She's a faded smile frozen in time
I'm still hanging on -- but I'm doing it wrong
Can't kiss her goodbye -- but I promise to try
Don't let memory play games with your mind
She's a faded smile frozen in time
I'm still hanging on -- but I'm doing it wrong
Can't kiss her goodbye -- but I promise to try
You tried, tho.
I'm drinking a Soy latte
I get a double shot
It goes right through my body
And you know
I'm satisfied,
I drive my mini cooper
And I'm feeling super-dooper
Yo they tell I'm a trooper
And you know I'm satisfied
I do yoga and pilates
And the room is full of hotties
So I'm checking out the bodies
And you know I'm satisfied
I'm digging on the isotopes
This metaphysic's **** is dope
And if all this can give me hope
You know I'm satisfied
I got a lawyer and a manager
An agent and a chef
Three nannies, an assistant
And a driver and a jet
A trainer and a butler
And a bodyguard or five
A gardener and a stylist
Do you think I'm satisfied?

It's anything BUT corny or contrived. It's about her caught between the standards of her religion and the pressures as a pop star in society, pretty much more personal than anything on Born To Die.
Ridiculously correct? Yes. They review music for a living. When you have as much experience reviewing music for a living and the credibility associated with their respective publication, report back with your findings. Their scores matter for a reason. Never downplay the importance of reviews and critique. Music, art itself, would be meaningless without it.
Well, they're both pretty sub-par when it comes to singing ability.
Did Lana take credit for writing her songs? What about Katy Perry? (I really don't know). I like Lana's lyrics more, for the most part.
Can either play an instrument? (I'm so ill-informed)!
I'm leaning towards Lana, however.
Yes, it is. Lana is not the best songwriter in the world but nothing Katy has written comes REMOTELY close to Lana's best stuff.
Even her little quirks are more enjoyable and endearing than anything the pop girls (who are very mediocre as artists, let's not kid ourselves), lines like "pick me up and take me like a vitamin".
I can't believe I'm discussing the artistic merits of ****ing Katy Perry.

Music Critics give their opinion on music, they do not create music, they simply listen to music do not act like their reviews give musicians a reason to create, the fans do. The fans listen and the fans understand the music they like the music and they relate. Again I honestly do not care about what a critic says about a song it is THEIR opinion not mine. So no you sound ridiculous and ignorant.

Why don't all the reviews align then? If they all have the same credibility, then they should have the same reviews, right?
