If it's good hip hop like Romans Revenge, Did it On Em, Blazin, Come on a Cone, RH, then I'd be here for it. If it's generic ****** hip-hop like BITT, Champion, Here I Am, Your love, and Dear Old Nicki, then i wouldn't. Half the hip hop side of PFRR made me want to /wrists. It's hit or miss for me with those kinds of songs, whereas the pop part of the album was basically flawless.

Personal preference aside, what I WANT her to do and what she SHOULD do is WHAT SHE WANTS TO. She obviously WANTED to do PFRR the way it was done, so anyone who thinks it was some kind of "mistake" that she needs to "learn a lesson from" (actual things "fans" have said in this thread) can go **** themselves. She made the record she wanted to make and it sounds how she wants it to sound, so the fact that I love it is beside the point. Nicki does not OWE anyone an album of any particular kind of music, nor should she feel obligated to make any particular kind.

You know what I mean. Her pop stuff has really tainted her image. I've tried to remain positive about it, but I can't anymore. It pains me that no one looks at Nicki as a Hip Hop artist anymore. Yes, she's 'branching out', but there's a difference between branching out and making half your album pop, and her image... she looks so fake and plastic. The Starships cover and her most recent candids are what I'm talking about. I feel like the Nicki I fell in love with is fading away.

You basically described my issue with "in the past". Yes, the Hip Hop side on PF:RR *****. But she's not being recognized for that anymore! I wish people would still realize that PF:RR is a hip-pop album. Not a pop album. Not people acting like Nicki is pop exclusive these days. It really, really bugs me.

I have a 'narrow' music palette? First off, I wouldn't be on ATRL if I didn't like pop music, so any implications of me being a pretentious hip-hop lover can stop now. Second, I use most of Nicki's pop material. I love it. I'm mad that Nicki is defined through her pop/dance material now when it should be the other way round. I'm guessing it was Nicki's aim to still be classified as a hip hop artist who also did dance-pop and R&B, but that backfired miserably, and now I'm pressed.

I for one could care less if she's considered a "pop" or "hip hop artist". I like both her rap, and pop/dance songs, so it's a win/win for me to get both on her albums.

With this album you can tell she was going for WW appeal, and once she tours everywhere and becomes a massive WW star she can be more creative on album number 3 (hopefully). If she could mix genres from PFRR into one type of sound for the third album that would be pretty epic. I love a variety but i'd also love a more cohesive album from her, i want her to find her own sound... futuristic beats that we haven't heard from her or anywhere else...and she should really take time off for it as soon as she's done with the arena tour, go enjoy life and bring us a slow cooked album by the end of 2013. Focus on just making great music on not focusing on just hits, if Onika does just that the rest will all fall into place. It doesn't have to be ALL HIP HOP she can still sing her hooks and throw in a Save Me or two

Also i do believe if the new rap girls start to blow up we will be getting better music from Nicki, her pink friday features and the album slay because she was hungry she wanted to make a name for herself, she had things to prove. But once she finally got recognition she got comfortable and started giving lazy verses just to get by... i look at the new girls coming up as a good thing because she'll gain that hunger again and have people to compete with, which is what she's been BEGGING for for quite some time now.
