You do realise that Adele isn't the "standard" for album sales, right? She's the exception. Rihanna might not be having majah success with this album, but she's still an albums artist. Well, she's both a singles and albums artist.

Where Have You Been - May
Roc Me Out - July
Drunk On Love - October

You talk about smashes and mention those 2. No sir. DOL is not commercial, and RMO was an attempt to create a hit, but that failed poorly.

This is why I wrote that maybe she should make WHYB the last single of the era or something since everyone seems to argue about this being a hit or this not being one

I'm ready for WHYB to be over and done with so the era moves closer to finishing.

Def Jam and Rihanna didn't promote You Da One, Birthday Cake and Talk That Talk. TTT deserved a music video anyway. Where Have You Been will be so big. Rihanna will promote it everywhere. Where Have You Been must be the last single of TTT era. But I want a music video for Watch n' Learn.

Just because it samples indie/alternative, doesn't mean that the finished product is also indie/alternative. Sure, it has some of those elements in it, but have you seen the charts within the last few weeks? There's been a wave of alternative/indie artists. Not a huge wave, but one that is increasing quite rapidly. So, even if DOL was "non-commercial", that's what's "in" right now.

Yeah, it's not just that. The fact that it's slower compared to these recent indie hits makes its chances already poor, since I don't see it getting much airplay, which is a key factor today. After all, these days something special is required from a slow song to succeed and beat the more commercial competition, or it just has to be excellent, which sadly isn't the case here.

Well the production is awesome, it's electronic, and it's also a slow song. The song (if released today) is like a 'bridge' between the two genres dominating right now; "indie" and dance-pop. Also, it's Rihanna. I think if promoted properly (after all, this is a hypothetical situation), then it would actually do very well.

They're all pointless anyway since WHYB is going to finish the era.
I think I'm going to meltdown if another single is announced after WHYB. I'm not here for this era to continue to be dragged out. I just want this WHYB video and then the era can close.

I actually agree, over the last few weeks I've lost interest in the hope of other singles, I want her to finish the era after WHYB and work the new album properly for a May 2013 release and build anticipation and get that #1 album
