I was looking at LYLALS run on radio earlier today and it took AGES to get off n radio. Months, really. So I'm not really stressing about HTL yet. Almost 300,000 sold.

you could say that about every single. I mean if you're pleased with a first single going 2x platinum, then you can still say the second single doesn't need to do well. But that's just making up excuses.

Singles sell album*. Album is over 600K. Singles over 4,000,000.
The real millions were made out of 97-100% filled out shows in North America, Canada, Latin America.
Other than bragging rights, what will HTL do???
ETA: *usually released to help with album sales. Selena sells regardless.

Rob, we are talking about the 3rd single from this album, and not so many artist's 3rd single was smash hit in the past (expect the big names'). We didnt wait, that her 2nd single LYLALS will be so much radio hit, and reach 2x platinum... and LYLALS just doesnt want to die by radios....

HTL could get her closer to 1m album sales. that's how the "big artists" sell their music.
and at the end there still needs to be a reason, if a single flops.

Selena sells the same amount whether she has a hit or not.
AYWR had no HIT and sold 750,000.
She is not an artist that needs a radio hit to help mediocre sales.
She does the same good amount with or without hits.
As do Katy Perry, Rihanna.
Britney had multiple radio hits, didnt do **** for her slbum sales.

by this date HTL sold around 300K with no radio support. Now is starting some promos, so we could see how will finish this song!
If it will flop, then i will be pissed, but she is by HWR, so i dont be surprise. Song was sent to radios 5months after the music video.... so i wait April and May, lets how this new version, radio visits push the song by radios, and on the Itunes...

yes but then again she was supported by her kid fanbase back then. It's all a different story.
I mean, singles sell albums, you said that yourself. That's how WTSGD kept selling good for a long time in the first place.
If HTL smashes, she could go back to selling 10k+ per week with her album.
She might be able to sell good without radio hits, BUT with them she will sell WAY better.

Even first singles.
Falling Down and R&R flopped, it happens. Not all songs become hits.
Even with two flop lead singles, she managed to stay in the top 100 on billboard for months.

We need to chill about Hit The Lights. Just because LS was a hit doesnt mean HTL will be another one.
Its up to the song actually, she will get her promo. Dont know how much and i dont expect much.
It took months for Love Song to take off too and HTL is a good single, its catchy and radio friendly.
We have to be patient. And given the fact HTL had a music video which was released in November and sold 300k, with BARELY any promo and we just got the adds about a week ago. Im fine with HTL, wether its gonna be a hit or not.
Gold is for sure.

What are you talking about? Who says her kiddie fanbase has deserted her?
I did type singles sell albums but I what I meant was singles are usually released to sell album but in Selena's cases, and noticeably in Rihanna's, Katy Perry, Britney, Lmfao, etc, you can have huge sales numbers and still sell the same amount of albums whether you have a hit or not. I thought I made that clear in my following posts.
LYLALS was huge but it didn't do anything for album sales. She was selling the same amount she was with AYWR and that album had no hit whatsoever. She was selling the same amount she was selling with K&T.
Based on her track record, she will end up selling 750,000 regardless.
So there's no need for prayer for HTL.

I just doubt half of the kids that bought her albums back in 2009 and 2010 are still here for her, but that's just speculating and i have no idea how her fanbase is, really.
And you can't deny that LYLALS helped WTSGD sell way more. And she might be selling the same amount, but that's for different reasons, because she had a different promotion and supporting system back then. She was on the DC all the time.
WTSGD sales fell when LYLALS started to fall. And if HTL smashes WTSGD will rise again, that's how it works.
And okay, maybe there's no need to pray for HTL but it's still better to pray for that than to pray for a fanbase and their fave
