Things are NOT looking good for Selena on the adds- front this week, 1 add with 72% in. Hopefully promo today and the following days can give us a better number of picks up next week.

Yeah, R&B and MC weren't flops, they had moderate success and made their money back and then some so there was nothing lost. They still made millions off of the movie. And I'm sure the distributors weren't expecting a lot of money to come in from R&B and MC. Especially given their budgets.

Like all of the stations that have added HTL are still spinning the **** ouf of LYLALS.
KIIS FM, one station, spinned lylals 67 times last week alone! That's 2/3 of HTL TOTAL spins!!
I don't want this to be like with Rih's WFL, when radios refused to move on the other singles.

and then Monte Carlo just, imo, wasn't a good movie. Nothing special about it. It was targeted at teens and opened the same week as Transformers , And ended up competing with Cars 2, pirates of the caribbean, The hangover 2, Bridesmaids etc were all still playing.
Releasing a small non-special movie in summer like they did with RB and MC is just begging for it to flop.  it doesn't say much about Selena's drawpower, in my opinion.
I am convinced that if 13RW has a ****ing awesome script, it will do well. |
Monte Carlo was just terrible. I mean it would have been cute for straight-to-DVD or an ABC Family movie but that movie was crap. It could have been REALLY good if they made it more of a teen movie and up-ed the rating to PG-13 and add some INTERESTING sub-plots.

Yes exactly! This is why I don't think we can properly judge how Selena can do at the box office. She's been doing crappy movies. Although RB was cute just bad luck going up against Despicable me and Toy Story.
Kids don't buy stuff just because its by their favorite artists anymore.
Otherwise HWR and Disney soundtracks wouldnt be struggling as hard as they are now..
