How do you guys think the general public will take her new album?
To be honest it could go either way. They 're so used to her being bright and colorful that they may have a negative reaction.
But at the end of the day, I think she is making the right decision by going dark. If Katy stays the way she is then she will become stale. She is better off taking the chance.
According to Media Traffic Administrators, Teenage Dream has sold 4.751.000 in total sales. TD:CC will push it past 5.000.000 by the end of the summer at the latest.
The only question is, will the critics be?
As long as it seems genuine and a progression, rather than forced, I think she'll get good reviews
Hopefully it wont seem forced. When she says she wants to go dark, I'm hoping it's the angry/raw kind (a la CTD) rather than sad and sappy. I mean she's using material from the divorce, and as we all know Russell broke her little heart. And when boys break her heart she ALWAYS gets revenge. Russell will soon join the likes Shane Lopes and Travie McCoy.
I think people, not the general public, but smart music goers like her darker side and more sad/soft side. We will get a critics record more then a popular record hopefully
I'm here for a darker sound
But tbh, I also want her to mature her look/sound to be aimed at a slightly older audience. I don't need to feel stupid being surrounded by 12 year old girls when I'm at my fave's concerts. The stupid candy theme appeals too much to the tweens.
