I want less pop sound and more of a alt. country sound. A few rock inspired songs maybe as well. As much as I really like TSOU please no more of those. I think it will be really well. Taylor is a a VERY smart business woman. She knows what her fans and the casual listeners want, and she knows how to combine that enough with the direction she wants to go in. So I think we're in for one of her best albums. I think if Eyes open is any indication this next era will be very successful on multiple formats and reach all new audiences

So who, from Taylor Nation, wants the same thing (less pop, more alternative)? *raising my hand*

I don't think it will come close to Speak Now.
Speak Now was a masterpiece

I'd like to argue with you on this.
While Speak Now is a great album with TOO many amazing songs in one, it doesn't have a clear story-line. Sure the theme is say what you need to say. But that album was more like collection of songs she has written for 2 years. She wrote way too much and she got confused at the end to choose the album tracks. While those songs are A-class level sans the obvious singles, I get those feelings (that she was confused) every time I finished to give that album a spin. And I say this as a huge fan.
Hopefully album #4 would be great. Something like Funeral or The Suburbs, please.

I'm a Swiftie but I will agree the less pop the better I have a dream that she will start to release all her songs to rock, alternative, and aaa instead of pop. Of course she will always keep country and both hot ac and ac

Speak Now was clearly her deliberately taking a step away from the small word she'd inhabited in her previous two albums - a by-product of how much success and fame she had been met with since then. It has a broader scope than what she'd done before. It's a more laboured and calculated album, which probably couldn't be helped seeing as how she knew what a huge audience she now had. There's nothing as outright magical as "Fearless" or as charming as "Our Song" (the lack of charm which positively permeated her first two albums is its greatest weakness). There are sequencing issues (Better Than Revenge => Innocent => Haunted => Last Kiss). It is my least favourite of her three albums. Having said that, it's an incredibly good album - it's just that Fearless is, with perhaps the exception of "Change" (her rockier songs have never been my favourites), genuinely perfect. Speak Now is vastly underrated by many, but perhaps overrated by some in my opinion (her first album remains criminally underlooked; "Tim McGraw" is still her greatest moment of lyrical GENIUS).
The correct answer to the poll is, of course, "very good". I would not dare hope for it to be better than the rest of her albums though. Topping Fearless is a cruelly difficult task.

I still want some pop. I like having a little bit of everything from her.
That said, I want good pop songs. None of this "Story of Us" genericness.

Never say never I never expected a collaboration with the Civil Wars but that happened I never expected a song like Eyes Open or Haunted or Dear John. Never say never with Tay

THAT is exactly my problem with Speak Now, other than my obvious complain on how overproduced and overworked this album is. It's good, but too slick for my ears. Some who don't want to look other than the singles will think this album as trash, while others overpraised it because of the solo credit to her as the songwriter & co-producer. Great songs sure, and it works perfectly well for Pop. But we all know she's the worst when trying to fit in with Pop.
Things that I enjoy from Fearless and Taylor Swift were the flaws. Those ***** made them perfect. Everything was right. Taylor Swift will remain 2nd to Fearless. Even tho it sold a lot of copies, public would never enjoy the beauty of it since it was only BMR & her behind that album. Dare I say it was one of the true indie release. I even consider she's still half-indie cause she does everything by herself, with some help from the team. And the music, she is still with BMR, and Universal only got distribution right, nothing more. It's just the way they promote ***** that are a little different, since they got public's attention now.

If you mean pop ala Ingrid Michaelson or Lykke Li, count me in. But in the mold of mainstream-pop, hell naw.
And let's forget that flop.

Didn't see that one coming too. Who knew THG soundtrack could be career highlight for her.
Now give me those 20 mins epic ala "Dear John".

I think that is what makes music real tbh anyone can create an album now with all the equipment out there to fix everything but there is something about little flaws in songs like how Tom Petty sings Free Fallin... He might not provide the best vocals but you can just feel the emotion. Now I do think Speak Now is her best album and I know it was heavily produced but you still hear little flaws like the way she sings Innocent on the track she kind of has a little different sound to her voice kind of like how the Beatles would yell and yell so they would have sore voices because that is the sound they wanted for the song. She is a perfectionist but not in the way that she needs her voice to sound absolutely perfect like other singers

Indeed. That's why I cringe every time I read people here (or any other site) criticizing music for not being perfect & slick. It's not about who has the most perfect vocal, how mad is their playing skill, or how clean is the record. Good music has never been about those things. By listening to something that is perfect, you will feel more alienated actually.
Speak Now's beauty was overshadowed by those ****** over-productions. Said it on my review. She's not delusional when it comes to her voice. I applaud her for it, but Taylor darling, don't repeat the same mistakes on SN with album #4. Remember Jack White's style in making music (writing song in less than 10 mins or cancel).

Country or pop works for me with her. I don't care, just as long as it's catchy, emotional, and I can play it in the summer.

I agree with you guys that SN isn't as coherent as Fearless or even her debut, but individually the songs themselves are very good, some even bordering on perfection.
What I want from Taylor is a shift away from her, as we all know, rather formulaic. lyrics.
I most definitely want STRINGS in at least two of her songs. I love them. And something similar to Enchanted(production wise, anyway).
It will do more than Fearless's opening and probably a little less than Speak Now's. So 600k<1M.
