How was there a problem? Only in this fanbase is 6m WW considered a problem.
When did he say this?
You would think Alejandro or Judas wouldn't have been the last straw, but it apparently wasn't.

I actually kind of believe Interscope didn't mind Judas. They believed in her selling power (as we did and some of us still do) so they thought anything she released at that moment would be a hit. I'm almost positive TEOG was released as a clean up for Judas.

That is true though. I guess they let her have this era since she's already had 2 major commercial successful eras. And honestly her damage is EASILY fixable, with a nice catchy hit single.

TF is currently at 15-16M WW. It had sold 5M before the re-release, meaning total sales of the deluxe edition of TF (which included TFM, and sold because of TFM) were 11M WW.
6M WW isn't considered a problem but when you compare it to TF, and when you consider that 2M+ of its total sales came from its first week, something has gone wrong somewhere. And I know the album could have sold well, but they messed up the single choices.
And he DM'ed Nicole, IIRC. He said Interscope were giving her one last chance by letting her choose MTN as the 5th single, and seeing if it did well. Considering it didn't, I think they are going to take back some control over her.

The reason why I don't see a problem is because Gaga never claimed that this album was for the public. She always said "for the fans", so it was beyond obvious that her and Interscope's goal wasn't to appeal to everyone and sell like crazy. I do believe Interscope will be more wary, but they're not going to take Gaga's freedom away. It's all about what she wants, so let's hope she wants to slay next era.

Interscope didn't mind Judas because it was their fault
They wanted MTN as the lead single, but Gaga wanted BTW, so they let her choose it. After BTW debuted massively but fell-off quickly, they decided to release Judas as the second single, thinking it was the safest choice. Then it didn't do so well

That's exactly the problem, though. It may have been 'for the fans', but don't forget that half of the people who bought her first album didn't buy BTW, meaning she has alienated many fans. I don't think Interscope will be happy with that. At the end of the day, the label wants to make money. They want her to sell as many singles and albums as she can. If she isn't doing that, they will take action. That's probably why, as Jeff has said, the new album material is much more like TFM - they want a more universal appeal.

That is kind of interesting though. I also think Interscope/Gaga had some issues with singles this era too. We were supposed to pick the third single (if you leave out Judas) which was obviously Scheisse and then all of a sudden we get You and I. I wonder what made them change up so fast.

There's an interview of Akon saying that for the first album she didn't have as much control and then they let her have a little freedom in TFM and BTW was all hers. He said that they backed off this time to see what she could do. I'll see if I can find it for you. I do agree, this era was totally for the fans, and in my opinion it's a successful era. But it also proves that Gaga may not be in as much control as she thinks she is. She needs a team to really support her and help get her ideas out.

Jeff claims he never said anything about it being TFM-esque. He said he figures it would be, not that it will be.

Six weeks at #1 is "falling off quickly". Okay, I'm done with your "logic".
-----------
The biggest issue with BTW imo was the single choices. They should have figured out which songs they were going to release and stuck with it. TEOG threw off initial plans because of the positive responses so they made it a single.

I hope that means commercially and not sonic-ally I don't want it to sound like TFM, but i'd like for it to have her signature. Something that shouts Gaga and is very commercial to the audience at hand. That's just my opinion though XD

The really messed up with singles. There is no way Y&I should have been a WW single with songs like Scheisse, and Judas was too controversial. Hair would have made a fun replacement. MTN should have introduced the era, and TEOG should have ended it.
I would have said:
MTN
BTW
Y&I US/Scheisse WW
Hair
TEOG
That would have been nice for me
And I don't think it's control she needs, so much. I just think she is young and full of ideas, and she needs people to reign her in and sort of act as an 'idea sieve', separating out the good and the bad She needs to surround herself with people who are artistic and creative, rather than have a room full of yes-men.

"So the way it works is, Gaga's on Kon Live/Streamline, which is Vincent Herbert, and it's distributed through Interscope. And the first two albums, we were fully involved in everything creative when it comes to Gaga, and then, as she grows, she becomes more in tune with herself [and] what she wants to do. Now she has full control over her project, period."

Yeah I agree, Hopefully she gets that this time around. I know she was against TFM as a re-release and they still did it anyway. But to make her satisfied they also split it into a Deluxe and a single 8 dollar copy. So she still fights for what she thinks is right. Which i'm happy for. We need more artist who know that they are worth more than they get.

Those 6 weeks at #1 were entirely due to the hype from TFM. Nearly a 1/3 of the total sales of BTW came from the first week and a half of sales. The song rushed to the top of the radio charts and then fell quickly, and it managed weeks 5 and 6 at #1 because of the release of a hugely advertised physical CD and streaming points from the video. You may say you are done with my 'logic', but I'm only telling the truth. I know people will be put off by what I am saying, but we need to stop living in a fantasy in which Gaga can continue putting off so many people. Gaga realises it to. Look at how she ended the era. She dressed with class, she looked good, her performances were on point...
Oh, and while Jeff never said anything about it sounding like TFM, he said it would be more like TFM conceptually, in that it would not be preachy like BTW was.

Not worrying, just discussing. I think it's kind of healthy too Cause then you end up talking about what you really want from Gaga. Your true non-delusional stan comes out of you LOL! But I agree we shouldn't get worked up about it, just discuss it in a nice manner.
