Nicki Minaj is an artist who raps. She's great at it but she's also a pop star. Unlike some other female rap artists living in low income houses, she probably knows she is more of a pop star than a rap artist. She doesn't exactly fit the bill for those generic hoodrat gorls. So it'd be better if she does what she wants while making that dough. I also love how she isn't letting the music genre she was first known for define her cause tbh she's just not that simple for you to figure her out that easily. And y'all kidding yourselves if you think Superbass was a hit because of the rapping. Y'all know it's that "boom badum boom badum he got that superbass" is more iconic than all of her singles combined except Super Bass ofcourse.

I think that's because she had to play a role. You know 'be in the hood'. She'd never get anywhere being pop Nicki. She can now she's gone mainstream, but not underground. And she mentioned that too, she was afraid.
