And I'm really sorry, but back then everyone said Gaga had the best spot on NYE because it was right before the ball-drop. Besides NYE she had ABC, Ellen, Grammy's,the Jingle Ball and a lot of buzz because of her video(teaser). It got a lot of views the first days after all.
I'm not saying it's bad, it could've done way better if released earlier, but it had great promo.

TEOG had SNL, GMA and American Idol, as well as the video being premiered on SYTYCD. MTN had various minor promotional appearances, but nothing on the level of AI.

I think MTN's promo could definitely have been better had she utilised the opportunities that she chose to miss, such as the AMAs. ABC was a minor preview of the song, Ellen is never really massive promo and the Jingle Ball was a concert performance. The focus was not on one song in particular. As for the ball-drop situation, I have no idea whether it was a good or a bad thing. I would have thought it was a good thing, but perhaps people were just too busy celebrating NYE to buy a song...
