They gave us a good pop song and an amazing video for it where both of them looked like a unity... it was a pop event and no can deny it...

It's not like they went into the studio together to write/produce the song and then started hyping the **** out of the song like it would ge gigantic and then that's it...

Beautiful Liar is a good song and I don't think that she and rihanna would sound good together and beside the song didn't flop it was a top 10 on the billboard hot 100 and reached #1 on the US Hot Dance Club Songs and not to forget it reached #1 in different countries around the world,I am pretty sure that their song would flop if it was released

the song went #1 in MULTIPLE countries and has multiple certifications, without proper promo (Beyonce and Shakira NEVER performed to song together)...if that's what you called underperforming

There isn't anything iconic about Beyonce and Shakira's "Beautiful Liar". The song isn't even all that great and it had no impact on pop culture. The song was just a hot" "moment in music, but quickly faded.

Well, I say that BL isn't iconic but it was a classic duet that is unforgettable. About 70% of the time when you say Beyoncé, a person would say "Beyoncé Beyoncé Beyoncé" repeatedly. BL is a classic in my opinion because people still remember it. Shakira & Beyonce were in perfect sync in the video and everyone said "Omg, they look just alike" and they brought something classy & sexy. I don't think Katy was shading it but maybe she wants to aim for something different.

I honestly doubt Rihanna & Katy can do better. The question is... What can Katy & Rihanna do that would be a classic for years? Something has to be classic before it can be called "Iconic"

Its not iconic but it is a classic. The material that they had made them in perfect sync and that what it means to make a duet.
