That was written by Shakira's new management team, Roc Nation, which Jay-Z owns. I mean, put the pieces together.
Shakira had already scored a huge global hit with "Hips Don't Lie."
Anyways, I think it was unnecessary for Katy Perry to mention "Beautiful Liar" as if it's some kind of inferior work. Sure, the song itself is not very good, but it was a perfect collaboration, as evidenced by how well Beyonce and Shakira played off of each other in the video. They really did look like sisters, as if they were meant to perform together.
It's her opinion, everyone has one....people need to respect others opinions. Who are you to decide if she can or can't make something iconic, only time will tell.
