I really hope that's what she's doing on the next album, she could work with different house producers and make a perfect dance record. It won't probably happen but I can dream

She could finally delve into dance and move on from simply getting her feet wet with it. OG was fairly innovative for 2010 and WFL was fairly innovative for 2011 in the mainstream, so I believe she could craft something new, interesting, and different from the mold of the industry if she took time to work with underground producers.
I still remember when WFL was reported to be produced by Calvin.

Exactly, her dance music always makes an impact and is different from the generic music that's on the radio which is why she should finally do a whole album.
Me too, it was such a great moment Calvin was one of my favorite artists/producers way before WFL so it was just amazing to see him team up with Rihanna. I'm kinda sad that everyone wants to work with him now though I don't think any of them will come close to WFL's success

I honestly don't think Rihanna cares about success at all this era. She just wants to do what makes her happy.

Although it's infuriating that she will just let her singles slide all over the place and just supports whatever song on the album she feels like on a particular day, in the back of my mind I respect that. She's in control, and while that is extremely messy, she's still doing what she wants to do. She's not obliged to meet our every need as stans, it's her career and life that has to come first. The fact that she understands that she needs to put herself first is very admirable.

It's annoying because TTT as an album has six to eight potential smashes, so to see them mess it all up so easily is a bit irritating. She's worked so hard since 2005 that it's understandable, though.

I've never really looked beyond TTT and WHYB as the smashes on the album (except for WFL), tbh. I know we've talked about the other songs before, but none of the other songs really spell 'smash' to me. I can see RMO having mediocre success, and I've always pictured DYT being the era closer.

I'm sorry but what is so respectable about the horrible work ethic she's displaying? If you're going to release an album you have to commit to it 100%. I could understand if she had an excuse like Beyonce did for the 4 era, but she doesn't. She's been in the US for almost a month now and we haven't got any sort of promo for the album or her current single. It's like she doesn't even care about her career or her fans. Not here for this laziness.

I don't think I worded it right. I meant that I respect that she's fully in control of her career now. I agree that it's sloppy and I don't appreciate the rushed album. Does that make more sense?

I guess, lol. I don't see this "control" you're speaking of though. Maybe control over her fashion career and her soon-to-be acting career but she's put her music career on the back-burner, it seems. And I don't like it at all.

Even though she's not really focusing on her music right now, she's still in charge of it. Def Jam aren't running much of her career now, it seems. Def Jam wanted a Loud EP, Rihanna wanted a new album. Rihanna wanted to collaborate with Chris, and obviously that wasn't Def Jam's idea. I'm basically saying that people call her a "label puppet", but I respect that she's anything but. She's doing what she wants to do, not what the label wants her to do.

US - ~750k
WW - ~2.4 million
It sold about 22-23k in the US last week and about 40k WW. There should be a few promo spots over the next few months plus WHYB and one or two other singles, so 1.5 million WW isn't that far out of reach. I see another 400-500k in the States, then another 900k-1 million outside of the States considering that Europe is going to go nuts for WHYB.

742K(more with this week's update) in the US and 2.3 million WW. Loud was at 3.5 million around this time.

Oh she can easily outsell Rated R. I just want her to promote more-(KCAs, American Idol, The Voice). At least she's gunna promote when she goes to Japan next month. Hopefully she can also perform at some tv shows when she goes to Australia for the Battleship premiere.

Oh, I see your point now. Well, honestly, I liked it better when she was a "label puppet"

Rihanna could smash with all her singles and albums with Capitol or Interscope. She hasnt released any flop single but they released in bad time or killed with dual releases or they didnt get any promotion ! Rihanna doesnt need to make a dance album or house pop album she and her label just need to be more serious about singles. It really hurts when you see that your fav song is flopping hard !
