  #24 - HOLIDAY
Average: 8.5556 - Highest: 10 (x11), Lowest: 5 (x2)
Writers : Curtis Hudson, Lisa Stevens
Producer : John "Jellybean" Benitez

The producer (Benitez) discovered this song, written by a group called Pop Energy, and offered it to Madonna, since it had been already turned down by other artists. They re-produced the song, in order to increase its commercial appeal. It was released as a single and managed to be Madonna's first hit, reaching #16 in the US and #6 in the UK. Later, it was re-released in the UK and it peaked at #2.

Madonna performed "Holiday" in all of her tours, except one - The Confessions Tour. The picture above is from the Blond Ambition performance, which is really worth the watch.

No video was made for it, but later some performances were used as its videos.

This is really classic Madonna. If "Justify My Love" is the definition of sexy, this is the definition of happiness. 9.5 from me.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    |

I'm just really disappointed by Borderline's placing. It's as close to perfection as Madonna ever got.   |

Next we have two of my 10s - and one 7.5, which I still don't know why it's here.   |

  #23 - LIVE TO TELL
Average: 8.5694 - Highest: 10 (x12), Lowest: 5 (x2)
Writers : Madonna, Patrick Leonard
Producers : Madonna, Patrick Leonard

During the recording of True Blue , Patrick Leonard was writing a theme for some random Paramount film, but ultimately they ended up rejecting it. Then he showed it to Madonna - she decided to use it for Sean's film At Close Range , and wrote the lyrics for it.

It was released as the lead single off True Blue , and it was a success - it was her third US #1, and it peaked at #2 in the UK. It also reached the top 10s of many countries.

She performed it live at The Who's That Girl Tour, The Blond Ambition Tour and The Confessions Tour - in the latter, she performed it hanging on a cross, which caused some controversy over the show.

Its video shows Madonna wearing a more mature look and singing "Live to Tell" in a dark room, while some scenes from At Close Range are shown.

For me, this is Madonna's best ballad. 10.  |

  #22 - SECRET
Average: 8.625 - Highest: 10 (x10), Lowest: 5 (x1)
Writers : Madonna, Dallas Austin, Shep Pettibone
Producers : Madonna, Dallas Austin

"Secret" was released as the lead single off Bedtime Stories , following a more R&B-esque sound in order to regain Madonna's popularity after all the Erotica mess. It was fairly successful worldwide, peaking at #3 in the US and #5 in the UK.

Sadly, Madonna only performed it in the Drowned World Tour.

The black and white video features Madonna as a club singer in Harlem, New York. It also shows the daily life of people there and their relationships. I guess that's the best way I can describe it.

And damn you all for this. "Secret" is Top 10 material. Should've been above both "Take a Bow" and "Human Nature". There, I said it.    |
