Those are also stereotypes. But the stereotypes that she often shows support to are the ones who are often ridiculed in the media. Instead of showing support to those stereotypes, and stereotyping the gay community, if she really wants to make a difference she should use the group in a generalizing sense. Nothing too far on either end of spectrum, if that makes any sense.

She supports everyone. That's the whole damn point. Be yourself. Don't let anyone tell you who to be.

I don't think you're much of a Gaga fan but you would have to be familiar with her really well to get that statement. It's almost as if she thinks every male fan is a homosexual, granted the majority are, but she seems to think she has no male fans who are straight.

There was a clip from her at the M.B. when she called a fan from the audience and she just assumed he was gay. I forgot her exact quote but I recall her telling him to tell his family & friends he was "born that way"

There's also the time when U.S. soldiers remade 'Telephone' which was a big parody on Youtube. Gaga said she didn't re-tweet it or make mention of it because she didn't want to put more attention on the video out of fear of getting them in trouble with the DADT policy. She assumed they were gay men simply because they remade her video. That's supporting a stereotype. She's also thanked her "gay fans" for remaking her video for Bad Romance while completely ignoring her straight fans...like she always does. She puts too much of an emphasis on sexuality.

It absolutely is. If there's one person out there who's thinking about doing something similar, and they see that people are very sad about the one who killed himself and wish they could have shown him all that's wonderful in the world, maybe they'll feel a little better about themselves. So it's worth it.

How could you even compare the two? The Civil Rights Movement was actually something very, very serious. When I go to a restaurant I do not see a "Straights Only" section. I do not see "Straights Only" bathrooms. I do not see "Straights Only" water fountains. I do not see police officers releasing dogs on gay protesters. I do not see police officers opening water fountains on gay protesters. I do not see gay people being forced to live in bad areas because they are discriminated against. Gay people have it so much easier than Blacks (in the south, of course) pre-Civil Rights.
