I am South American, and in my family, they don't want you to move out until you're married, and even in some cases, entire families live under the same roof. I had to move all the way to China to live by myself.  |

However, I love it now and although I love visiting the fam I cannot fathom living with them again.  |

After having my mom visit all of January, I was reminded of every reason why I decided to move out in the first place. As much as I love my parents, I would never be able to go back with them.

It's not hard living with my mom anyway. So, I'm patient.    |

She lets me do whatever as long as I pay certain things (my expenses and such). Our schedules are so busy to the point we're almost never at home at the same time.

It's really quite peaceful. That doesn't mean I don't wanna move out, just that I'm complacent with the fact that I'm unable to live on my own at the moment.  |

I'm currently in the graduate counselling psychology program! Hopefully starting my PhD in the Fall, and eventually registering as a clinical/counselling psychologist.

And I'm moving out in the summer! Pretty excited    |

What was/is your Masters thesis on?  |

What was/is your Masters thesis on? | Well, your field seems to be the best of psychology without the terrible burden of a dissertation!

I'm currently in the process of collecting data for my thesis (oisethesis.tumblr.com if you'd like to share it haha!). The thesis itself is the influence the quality of one's romantic relationship has on body image, and eating patterns. In addition, I'm interested in seeing how sexual orientation acts a moderating factor amongst these variables.

It's solely focused on women (as per my supervisor's interest in women's health) but I'm hoping to expand it in my future research (probably not dissertation, but another future study).  |

 | Oh man, that's awesome! Ideally, I want to be a research assistant, or something related to that, since I love being involved in research but I could never come up with great ideas without someone else. I just figured I'd find the best way to have access to everything, haha. Too many interesting fields!!!

By the way, re-blogged your message. Hopefully you get some people helping you with the survey    |

By the way, re-blogged your message. Hopefully you get some people helping you with the survey | Well, being involved in research completely on your own is pretty rare nowadays. A large percentage of research conducted in Psychology is done with a team of researchers, so it's not like you'll be on your own! It's only in school where they push you to develop these skills on your own, but even than it's not expected that you'll have amazing, creative ideas. I know it took me about 6 months to come up with my idea and it's not even that creative! Ha.

And thanks for the re-blog! Appreciate it I'll share my results here once I get them (sometime in May)!

So what kind of work specifically do you do in your field?  |

So what kind of work specifically do you do in your field? | Most of the stuff so far has been politics or business related, probably because they have more quantifiable data and are bigger organizations. I have to sort of come to a conclusion on district data sometime in the next few months and start work on a group Psychology research paper, perhaps concerning college diets, in a few weeks.

Even if you forget to post the data, I'll try to remember to ask as the semester comes to an end!  |
