An album can sell millions and still have songs from them get to #1 on the Hot 100 without a music video, so there's no reason why Marry the Night or Man Down couldn't.
The reason post-album and pre-album singles are different chart-wise is that pre-album singles can get high on the chart straight-away, because the artists fans all buy the song, but with post-album singles, the artists fans have all bought the album, so it's left to the general public liking the song for them to sell well.
For example, Kelly Clarkson fans have all bought the album, so Stronger is only getting bought by the general public, which is why it took so long for it to go top 10 on iTunes, but if Stronger was released before the album, it would've gone top 10 on iTunes within a couple of days (like Only Girl and Born This Way did).
