mmm, songs, like there are toooooooooo many!
Albums? ROL ofc, COAD the last few months, I have her whole discography and lots remixes mashups 27Gb that is.
Dying for MDNA now.
I've been listening Madonna since I was 4, 17 years ago haha!
Cool! I will make that my goal as well. I don't own all her discography (#flopstan) but I have listened to all of it through big part of my life. I can tell you my oldest Madonna music memory, but that would date me

Haha.
I am surprised tho, that there aren't lots of Madonna fans here :/
I mean, she is still the biggest music icon ww.
Because this site is populated by very young people (teenagers mostly) and they are not that into Madonna. There are fans, but some of them are banned () or most of them prefer to post in the "Gimme All Your Loving" thread.

Typically, Madonna news is very popular in this forum. Threads about her receive a high number of postings.

Hello, National Anthem was talking about Madonna fans, and I gave him my impression. The latest threads I have seen on here are so disrespectful, and if they get a lot of replies, they come from the Monsters to insult her.
On the other hand, I also feel a bit isolated from The Madonna fans on this site. Sometimes I feel that you and the others don't want to post here because it was me who opened the thread and not someone more relevant or noted as, say, Sahn or Onen, but that is another debate for another day.
As a way of a countdown, we will be reviewing Madonna's studio albums from Madonna until Hard Candy.
We will discuss singles, your favorite songs from those albums, album tracks, favorite videos of said era, performances and more.
Let us start with
I'll start with the singles and include the video in the discussion.
Quote:
Everybody
I actual feel "meh" about this song overall and that includes the video.
The song is such a groovy/dance/pop/rnb and I appreciate the spoken words breakdown.
It's pretty much dismissed as the first single by the general public because 'Holiday' over shadows it.
Seems to forget about this song. Hahaha. .
The video is horrible, but given the budget and time when videos were just taking off, it's understandable.
Quote:
Burning Up
Love, love, love this song!
And it's unbelievably underrated and unappreciated. .
It's my favorite song on the debut because it's so unapologetic sexual at a time when it wasn't
Acceptable for women to be blatantly sexual, let alone have a song about it.
I love the video as well.
Quote:
Holiday
Not my favorite signature Madonna maybe because she played it at most of her concerts.
But I understand why the fans love it for it's uplifting, happy lyrics.
And the 'Blonde Ambition' performance is my favorite.
Quote:
Lucky Star
It took me a long time get why this song and video were so popular due to me being
Biased against simple videos and songs, so I never gave too much attention.
Then I saw the video on YouTube one day and saw the "animalistic"/tongue-and-cheek looks she was giving throughout the video was so amazing.
And in that instant, I loved the song and video. .
Oh, yeah...it was her first solo top 5 on Billboard Hot 100.
Quote:
Borderline
Another one it took me a while to warm up to.
And when I did, I loved how mature and heartbreaking this song is.
The video and song is the embodiment of what early/mid eighties was.
So overall, I appreciate 'Debutdonna' for it's cohesiveness and solid effort.
Madonna is my favorite album of hers from the 80's.
Lucky Star:
Very good synthpop, effervescent. I love the bridge ("you may be my lucky star, but i'm the luckiest by far"). Sadly sort of underrepresented in her tours, minus Confessions. My 2nd favorite from the album. Simple yet effective video.
Borderline:
Quintessential 80's love song. Used to love it, but it's kind of meh to me now. Love the video though.
Burning Up:
Rock-inspired, very attitude-driven. Perfectly summarizes Madonna's years in NY. A Classic. 3rd favorite from this album. I love the video and her outfit in it.
I Know it:
meh.
Holiday:
Such a classic!
Think Of Me:
My favorite, almost sounds like a True Blue/LAV song, but with the classic Madonna funky flavor.
Physical Attraction:
Very funky, but it was kind of meh for me. I wish it was a single instead of everybody.
Everybody:
Really amateur sounding. You can tell she wrote it first because the lyrics are so simple. I loved it in the Koko Club performance in 2005 though.
Here comes ''W.E.'' - Music from the Motion Picture
And here's the first Madonna album cover under the Interscope/Universal era.
The Golden Globe nominated music from Madonna’s upcoming film "W.E." composed, orchestrated and produced by Abel Korzeniowski, which also includes Madonna’s Golden Globe award winning song "Masterpiece", is scheduled to be released digitally on Universal's Interscope Records on January 31st, it was announced today. W.E. which was directed, co written and produced by Madonna and distributed by The Weinstein Company is scheduled to be released in February.
The score was recorded in April 2011 at the famed Abbey Road Studios in London with a 60-piece orchestra conducted by Terry Davies including piano, violin and viola solos.
The Polish born Los Angeles based Korzeniowski previously wrote the original score for the Tom Ford film A Single Man for which he also received a Golden Globe nomination.
“The prevailing sense of obsession was what inspired me in W.E. -- the irrational compulsion to sacrifice everything and anything for love – a love that could easily be just an illusion. In my music, I wanted to reflect those powerful and conflicting emotions through a web of melodic themes, which relentlessly repeat and constantly swing between despair and sorrow, and hope and joy,” commented Korzeniowski.
“W.E.” tells the story of American divorcee Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough) and England’s King Edward (James D'Arcy) who abdicated his thrown to be with the woman he loved. It is considered one of the greatest love stories of the 20th century. The story is told through the eyes of a modern day New Yorker Wally Winthrop (Abby Cornish). Composer Korzeniowski masterfully and seamlessly bridged the two unique worlds of Europe in the 30’s and 40’s and the contemporary Manhattan environment of a woman lost in her dreams of the perfect love.
In addition to Korzeniowski’s magnificent score, the soundtrack includes the original song “Masterpiece” composed by Madonna, Julie Frost and Jimmy Harry and sung by Madonna which is played during the end credits of the film. It will also be included on Madonna’s upcoming solo album for Interscope/Universal, MDNA, which is scheduled for release this spring.
While I was posting this, I was also watching every single video of this era.
You guys know already that I am not old, ancient!! so I do have memories about this album, but I actually started getting interested in Madonna with "Like a Virgin". "Madonna" came later.
"Everybody" is ok. Never meant to be compared to "Holiday" or even "Borderline", but as I found out that this was Madonna's first single, it made perfect sense to me. "Get up, sing, and dance, and do your thing". That line alone encapsulates all that is Madonna (get up, have fun, sing, dance, enjoy life) and instinctively, that was a big reason why I became a fan.
I would rank them in order of preference:
1) Holiday
2) Borderline (this was a toss-up for me)
3) Lucky Star
4) Burning Up
5) Everybody
They're all epic in their own way, though, and my preference about each single changes all the time. I do remember feeling so happy every time "Holiday" was played on the radio and that was the tiebreaker to put it on top of my list, but "Borderline" makes me just as happy.
Madonna walked the red carpet in a star-studded premiere for her drama, "W.E." in NYC last night, and addressed the Elton John/David Furnish feud after she won the Golden Globe for Best Song. Madonna said, "You know what, honestly, I was oblivious to it all. It was brought to my attention afterwards and I don't... I just keep going and don't pay no mind to things like that."
Madge recalled her emotional moment at the Globes, saying, "I was really surprised, I have to say. I always say, 'Don't expect to win and if you do, you're pleasantly surprised.'"
The elegantly dressed director is juggling her hectic schedule, preparing for the Super Bowl halftime show, in addition to working on her 12th album, dubbed, "M.D.N.A." and promoting her film. The busy star said, "My head is spinning. By the time you interview me, I can't think straight."
The singer hinted at what's in store for the halftime show, revealing, "I know what songs I'm doing, I have my guest artists, I know what I'm wearing, and I just hope I can negotiate the high heels I have to dance in." According to a source close to "Extra," L.M.F.A.O. could be one of the guest artists sharing the stage with Madonna.
In choosing sides for the football game of the year between the New England Patriots and the NY Giants, Madonna asserted, "It's a tough one... I'm just focusing on my performance okay, don't ask me to take sides!"
