Specifically, "check on it" was more tailored to pop & rhythmic radio, but urban stations picked it up, too. That was the shocking part to me.
As far as it being a soundtrack single, I didn't expect it to do well seeing as it was never played in the movie at all, so I honestly wasnt expecting it to be a smash hit like it was. The only "promo" it really had was radio, I don't believe she ever performed it until her "Beyonce Experience" tour in 2007.
With "It Will Rain," I can definitely see why it's had the success it's had. The song is actually played at the end of the movie, so that's promo right there, and it was serviced to radios and digital outlets as the lead soundtrack to Twilight unlike "Check On It."
