TUMBLr .GIF TUTORIAL [NOT FOR BEGINNERs 0R SINNERs]
May you take this H0Ly lesson into your soul and guide you into making better gifs.
Let us begin.
Quote:
This gif making tutorial is NOT for beginners. This is for ppl who already know how to make Tumblr styled gifs but want to learn how to style them the way i do.
Of course after this lesson you should learn to add your own personal flair, because while I like influencing others, people completely CL0NING my style is a bit... reductive.

S0! You have your gif all planned, the frames laid out, etc etc You want to select the first frame in the Animation (Frames) panel like so:

This way, whatever effect you add effects ALL the frames since "Propagate To Layer 1" or whatever is already automatically checked for you as a Photoshop default.
Next, you want to choose the LAST layer in the Layers panel.

DO NOT make the layer visible, just highlight it. This way, whatever effects you add will effect ALL layers BELOW it.
Next, in the Adjustment panel we are going to use contrast. Turn up the contrast and brightness. This gives your gif a little less definition but makes the gif more striking (it's a tumblr gif so a lot of detail is not needed).

There is no set limit for how bright the brightness should be turned up or how high the contrast should be. it's all about whatever works for the gif.
This is the image we end up with:

Next in the Adjustments panel you want to click on Selective Color. This lets you adjust certain colours within the image. We are gonna adjust the Red first, like so:

Turning UP the Black in the Red Selection makes the red in the image darker and also effects brown and makes things browner. Turning D0WN the Cyan makes the red brighter. So because of Chanel's is wearing red lipstick it will make her lips a brighter, more striking red, but it will also make the brown in her skin and the brown in her coat redder. here is what it looks like:

Next, while we're still in the Selective Color adjustment effect, we are gonna go to the drop list and choose White. We are gonna turn DOWN the Black in the White so that whatever white is in the picture makes things a brighter, cleaner white.

I'm not gonna show you the results of that on the gif since it doesn't effect much.
After that, we are gonna go to Black in the dropdown of the same exact Selective Color adjustment effect and turn UP the Black in the Black:

This makes the blacks in the image darker & more striking.

You can also play with the Cyans, Magentas, Yellows, etc. in the Black if you want to replace the black in your image with another color. This is how Rihanna accomplished the effect of the LOUD artwork where the blacks are replaced with blues (blue shadows, blue eyelashes, etc):

The opposite of Yellow is Blue, the opposite of Cyan is Red, the opposite of Magenta is Green, & of course the opposite of Black is White.
If you're happy with the results & it's under 1mb, you can actually stop there, but I'll go a little further to show you how to make a "Dark Gray" black.
To accomplish this you DO NOT want to use the SAME Selective Color adjustment but instead make another Selective Color adjustment effect.
With this second one you go directly to Black on the drop down menu and you turn DOWN the Black in the Black:

With this, you create a Dark Gray that appears Dark Black but with a weird Gray screen over it, like so:

If you're wondering "why don't you just not mess with Black at all?" well, not messing with Black at all DOES NOT create the same effect. The picture below is without any Black adjustments:

Notice the difference?:

If you don't that just means you either have bad eyes, you're colourbind, or that you're not really good at Photoshop to notice the details in graphics.
And now you're D0NE! That's the basics of my gif process. sometimes I do a lot more, sometimes a little less.
below is the original gif with no effects:

& here is the finished gif, with the effects + added Sharpen filter to each Layer/Frame.
