Beyonce's voice has a very dark, heavy, dramatic tone about it and that's why she excels in R and B music and it's variations but is unable to truly give an authentic rock style performance. Rock music tends to gravitate more towards lighter voices that have less weight to them same with breathy singer-song-writer kind of music and a lot of soft-pop, soft-rock. I also think that's more popular in dance music too.

Rock is Gaga's DEFAULT genre. Always has been. Just because she adds dance beats doesn't change that.

This is about how easily each of them can manipulate their voice, and Beyonce has proved SEVERAL times that she can cover jazz authentically.

There are subgenres of rock, you know?
The Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon is much more alternative and subtle. It's a lot softer.

A Heavy voice is better anyway because it would be easier to ride the guitar riffs and not be drowned out
