It's too early to crown Gaga as the third major pop icon and influence (along with Madonna and Britney).
I feel like she already is entitled as the next major pop icon, though.
She's not as iconic or Madonna and Britney but she's left her mark. And she's not done yet.
She's more iconic then Rihanna and Katy combined, tbh.
When Britney was in her peak she was everywhere. I remember everybody was wearing skechers because of her, drinking pepsi became something Britney-related Lol and every girl wanted to be like her. She was HUGE and I mean HUGE.
Britney experienced the same drop in popularity. ONE underperforming album doesn't mean you're done for.
Madonna, Britney, Rihanna, Mariah.. man, everybody has had an underperforming album.
Gaga has in it her to come back.
I feel like she already is entitled as the next major pop icon, though.

Beyonce as well. Gaga is about to surpass them all in album sales in such a short amount of time. Plus look at the massive success of the M.B. tour. Her popularity is fading but she def. has longevity. There hasn't been a female pop star this culturally big since Britney. And before Britney there was Madonna & Janet.
BTW is Gaga's third era, just as Britney was Britney's third era.
They both saw diminishing returns from previous efforts, but Gaga less so.
Britney stan's have no right to call Gaga's 3rd era forgettable when Britney's 3rd era is was paid dust by radio and stans alike.
Aside from Slave 4 U, Britney (The Album) will remain unused.
