I created the Taylor VS Rihanna thread because it was late, I was bored and kisuke was acting a damn fool. Anyways I'm happy I did make it because it brought me to this question. I asked this question to a few Rihanna stans last night, but they didn't answer honestly. Tons of Rihanna stans in my thread were so quick to trash Taylor for not doing anything iconic, yet I'm sitting here wondering well what has Rih done. So please someone explain to me what has Rih done that is iconic, something that will be remembered for generations to pass. Now of course she has Umbrella, but could you name anything other than Umbrella. Because Umbrella is not enough to be called an icon. I only know one thing that Rihanna was involved in that's iconic, but I'm not trying to get warning points so let's just say it happened 3 years ago.

I don't know how someone can consider domestic abuse as iconic. This person must be pretty ****ed up in the head.
Her image influences her fans but for me Rihanna isn't iconic yet, at least not in the way you describe it.
Nobody outside the stan world knows that though. But I mean I guess it could be used and also the fault with saying that is, what if she gets snatched?
Rih needs something that will put a mark on the industry hell on the ****ing world. She will only be seen as the girl who made cute songs that went #1. She needs a performance, song, action, outfit something that people will remember her for.
What has Rihanna to do with Taylor Swift? It must be one of the most non-sense thread opened here. Rihanna is a stablished worldwide star. Taylor is way more local than her. I mean, Speak Now has sold 5,5M worldwide. 4M were in the US. Loud has sold 6M+ worlwide. 1,5M (don't know the exact number) were in the US.
And Umbrella is iconic. At least, here in Brazil. TS was a factor here. In 2009, she was a fever. She has pretty much faded, but of course you will find a bunch of die-hard fans here.
TS sells records? A lot. So does Rih? Yes. Rihanna has several back-to-back hits, while TS has only Love Story and You Belong With Me (that wasn't that big).
Everybody has their point of view, but say that TS > Rih? No. At least, not right now.
