It wouldn't matter. She sold around 208k first week in the UK and finished up at 3.7M so far. If she sold 2M first week in the UK, sold 1.7M in the second week and never sold another copy, she would still have sold 3.7M in the UK. The result is the exact same. It doesn't matter which route she took to get there.

I guess it sort of is, though. If you think about it, a chat of people who happen to be Gaga stans doesn't really make it relevant to Gaga. I don't think it should have been reported, though, because people have gotten away with much worse.

I was just pointing out that longevity isn't always best. I, for one, would rather BTW's chart run stayed as it was, rather than having it go on to sell 6M copies. Gaga has done that before. What she hasn't done, however, is break first week sales records, first day/week spins records and had the longest run at #1 after a debut since Candle in the Wind

It had an increase in sales in most places due to the iTunes giftcard effect. Even if it fell or stayed at the same position in the charts, all songs have increased in sales
