We're reading every app completely. In most cases, we're also looking through the user's post history to see whether their presentation matches up.

Yeah, I suppose they'll start announcing the new mods either on Jan. 08th and/or in the subsequent days.

The deadline is set for when we will stop receiving applications. It does not mean that an announcement is guaranteed to be made that day; however, an announcement will probably be after we actually start discussing the applications (which will be soon).

In theory it's enough to just check the reported posts a few times a day. But of course the more time you spend browsing the site and fixing/moving/merging/deleting things, the better.
