It's about the fact that she's a POP artist and not an independent singer - and even so, I've seen indie artists promoting their work more than Britney has lately.
She will simply NOT survive in this industry if she ignores the general public. We may be many and be enough to get her some fan-voted awards and online polls, but it won't go further than that.

I think we should see how the next era goes with the "new" label over at RCA. She'll be taking a year or 2 1/2 years off from the music scene so who knows what will happen. She was pretty consistent through out the Circus era so she might surprise us.

Oh yes, the kids excuse. Madonna and JLO work harder than Britney, they are older and also have kids. Beyonce just gave birth and is rumoured to be releasing a new album and touring next year. Even when she was pregnant, she supported and cared for 4 more than Britney did with Femme Fatale. I can name hundreds of hard working females in the industry that have kids and still take their career seriously.
Britney can go on a worldwide tour and work the time around her kids. What's stopping her from performing at a high profile show for her album and singles, taking out like 1/2 hours of her time, usually at night anyways when her kids are sleeping, so she'd have all morning with her kids. Not to mention, no body's asking for In The Zone promotion that would kill her. She just needs continued, smart and effective promotion lined out throughout the era, not do promotion for an album in the US only for a week and a half on release, then rush the **** on tour.
Britney is an artist, all artists support their music releases by promoting. It isn't just about the sales, it shows they care for the music they spent months recording, they want people to embarce it, shows they are taking their career seriously and want to do good for their fans, etc... Britney hasn't shown any of this since In The Zone.

Same here. I can't believe I trashed circus before. I really appreciate it now way more. It sounds more diverse. Yeah, I like femm3 fatale it it got old pretty quick to me. I only use TTWE, HIAM, HATLM, INSIDE OUT. The rest hmmm... not anymore. She really needs to take a break from Max Martin, Dr Luke, she needs NOT to tour for a while. Work with different /underground producers and focus on Europe. They are clearly not for her anymore. Is sad that a lot of ppl don't even know she had an album out.
And yes, STOP pretending you dont care if she flops. Don't tell me you enjoy seeing her being dragged and being outsold by lessor gurls.

Yes, she was consistent for two months. But since that's clearly the best we're gonna get, I'm fine with it.
As for the 2 1/2 years break... I still think we're getting another album by late 2012, despite all the jokes I've done about her getting engaged.

yeah but she still has two young boys, it's not like they're 17. Bringing those other mothers up is irrelevant. There was a time when Britney had her kids TAKEN a way from her and she has made mistakes as a mom so I think in a way she's making up for lost times and wants to be the best mother she can be. It's hardly an "excuse" -- Britney herself has said her kids is her main priority right now.

Kylie said she doesn't care about sales, but she doesn't do stuff like that, cause her label won't let her. She has had to fight for an Orchestra album for years, and it's finally happening.

she will be releasing something in 4th quarter 2012. I'm 97% sure. Whether that's the 1st single or single and album I'm sure something will be released 4th quarter.

But I do co-sign this. I've said something similar to that before.

By the ****ing way, "sales" are a consequence of hard work. Those "sales" will come back as soon as Britney wants them to. Luckily, she's one of the few artists out there who can say that, even if she ignores it by saying she has "nothing to prove" anymore.

I wouldn't go as far as to say Madonna works harder than Brit... If anything it's just the same as Brit. For Hard Candy her promo was few and far between. She did that show in the UK and that's it. She's doing exactly the same thing as brit. As soon as the album comes out they go on tour. As far as J.lo goes she has done lots of promo I guess but she didn't go on tour so she had that time to promote on Award Shows. Plus she has American Idol which is always a good promotional tool.
The true tea on the promotion part

basically, it's frustrating because we all know she can do better. But I'm really looking forward to the next era. It can't emulate this one.
Do any of you think you can ever stop being a fan due to being fed up with her? she's lost some fans along the way. They still listen to her music but that's about it.
I know I'm in it til the end through all the ups and downs. We were tested as fans during her dark days and we still stuck by her side. I still remained a loyal fan regardless.
