Miley scheduled to attend Celebrity Fight Night

The Celebrity Fight Night Foundation is hosting a contest to draw more attention to the charities it supports.
Celebrity Fight Night XVIII is a star-studded affair that includes performances and an auction benefiting multiple charities. The event will be March 24 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in northeast Phoenix.
Scheduled entertainers include Reba McEntire, Lionel Richie, Jackie Evancho, Miley Cyrus and Sinbad. Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer David Foster will return as musical director. Other celebrities and performers will be announced later.
Organizers are giving people the opportunity to win a pair of Silver seats worth $3,000 by entering the “Name That Celebrity” contest through Sunday. To play, go to celebrityfightnight.org, click on the green holly icon and try to name as many of the 45 featured celebrities as possible. On Monday, Celebrity Fight Night will select entries with the most correct celebrity names and randomly draw a winner, who will be notified and listed online.
Celebrity Fight Night hopes the contest brings people to the website to raise awareness for the charities.
“We did a giveaway last year as well, but this year, it’s more interactive. You have to go online and participate in it,” said Sean Currie, executive director of the foundation. “The other one was just a random drawing.”
The main beneficiary of the Celebrity Fight Night Foundation is the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute, a Phoenix-based health-care facility that treats people with Parkinson’s disease. Several Valley charities also have benefited, including the Foundation for Blind Children, the Phoenix Symphony and St. Vincent de Paul.
“We’ve given over $20 million to the Parkinson Center and over $70 million total over the last 17 years and we do it all through our annual charity event,” Currie said.
The donations are primarily funded by sponsorships, ticket sales and the auction. Sponsors include US Airways, FedEx and GoDaddy.com.
Organizers say the upcoming event will mark a milestone for Ali, who has Parkinson’s disease.
“Muhammad Ali will be turning 70 years old in 2012, so we’re doing something to celebrate his 70th year. It will definitely be unique, because we’ve always got new entertainers and new performers, new auction items and new honorees,” Currie said.
