I was making that face throughout the performance. I mean, Britney has had so many amazing moments at the VMAs, and this was supposed to be her big comeback. It was definitely a train wreck. I'm so glad she's moved past this now and is in a much better place!

I felt sad when I first watched that performance

It was more her appearance than anything else, that shocked people. she was out of shape, the outfit was extremely unflattering and it was all topped off with those infamous terrible extensions that weren't even the same colour as her real hair.

And to have to perform like that in front of her peers and hundreds of millions of people, coupled with her low confidence and her obviously being unsure of herself..... it was sad. I don't know how some of you Britney stans can appreciate this. If it were my fave (and lord knows she's had some bad performances lately) i wouldn't want to watch it even just for a kii.

Those used to make me laugh so much. There are a lot more videos of her doing that.

On the performance - it really was terrible. A performance is deemed as good based on either the quality of an artist's vocal delivery or the display/its visual appeal/show of skill. This had neither.

I did feel very sorry for her when this happened though. Wasn't the reason for that terrible dancing that she had her entire routine changed a few days before?

I think she just went out and partied and didn't bother to learn her routine that much. Then about an hour before the show she was drunk/insane - they had a full outfit and hair extensions for her but she decided to just wear the bra and pants and she wouldn't let them finish her hair so that's how she ended up on stage looking like THAT.

It was pretty bad. She looked really confused and lazy in the choreography.

She is lucky that the expectations became a lot lower over the years. Imagine if she performed this in the 90's...
