Where have a said that. "becoming gay" is what i have described this entire thread. It's changing YOURSELF, the person I have come to know, the person you are. Change to fit yourself into the expectations of a loud and proud community or whatever. If your not changing and that makes you happy - fine. But some of these people are not happy.

But neither are some people who force themselves to "act straight," but you haven't addressed that.

You also haven't addressed the point I keep trying to make to you: How do YOU know what ANOTHER person's true personality is? How do you know they weren't putting on a front the whole time when they really just wanted to be big flaming queens? How do you know that isn't what makes THEM truly happy? You can't ask us to not judge you, when you're judging these other people's decisions to be part of a loud and proud community.

You're assuming that who these people were BEFORE they changed must be their "true self," completely neglecting the possibility that the OPPOSITE could be totally possible. Maybe they never realized their "true self" was a "loud and proud" gay man UNTIL they became exposed to that world.

I think there is an importance to a wider understanding of any decision. If it is a choice - fine. Should they be allowed to get married? If that makes them truly happy, maybe. But I don't think you should forget your history / lessons ect of your country. Some of those have fought for equality, some of them have fought for rights and some of them have fought for traditional values.

I don't think there's a yes or no answer. I don't think either of those answers are right or wrong. I think it's a conscious vote. However I do think you should be educated of the matter. Ya'll say I'm not but I have had experiences with an extremely conservative family and many amongst the gay community. My BF works for "Rainbow Youth" So I'd like to think I've experienced different perspectives.

Why just maybe? How, in any way, does two people getting married and being happy together hurt anyone else?

You need to accept that maybe some of the people you've grown up with in your life ARE wrong, and aren't treating you with the respect that you really do deserve as a human being. It's very disheartening to see you being so down on yourself and say "maybe I don't deserve to get married" because other people think so.

And sweetheart, I grew up with a Marine Corps dad in South Texas before shipping off to college in ****ing Boston. I've experienced my fair share of perspectives.
