you are calling me out for my comprehension? I just said she wasnt at MJ or Madonna's level.
And yet you still fail to give me something valid that shows Britneys impact musically. Not Sales, not image wise, and not her messy life, but MUSIC which is what she's here for.
That is the way MANY record labels thought prior to Britney's explosion. They thought that there was never going to be another huge female pop star in the vein of Janet, Paula and Madonna.
This is a short-sighted and moronic mindset, and even if it was true in 1998, there's no reason to think that at no point in time things wouldn't have changed.
Either way, it seems likely Beyonce would have gone solo, which would open the door for acts like Rihanna. Britney wasn't the originator of dance music coming back (Loose and the Timba-brigade pre-date Blackout), which opened the door for Gaga, etc.
It's really naive to think that the industry would have never gone to that female pop star well ever again and just ignored an entire demographic in perpetuity for the rest of history sans Britney.

Blackout, one of the most influential pop albums of the decade, as said by Rolling Stone.

Performance wise and vocally too, which they can't say anything about.
It takes a lot more than teeny bopper pop music and a popular image to influence a generation of stars. Not to take anything away from Britney, but her influence is, like many have already said, limited to image. And even then Britney's image isn't one that can be uptaken by artists who want to be respected and reputable.
Beyonce on the other hand has had a more subtle, but equally as important impact, on the music industry. She's inspired Adele, Rihanna, Gaga, and many other up and coming megastars with her music, drive, and talent. That's arguably more important than just image.
I think the reason many of you doubt Beyonce's impact is because it's not as loud and in your face as Britney's WAS when she first came out. Over the years, Beyonce has been gaining traction and setting the bar for artists everywhere. We even have her inspiring indie acts by choosing not to do the typical pop sound with her new album. That's real impact, that's real influence.

This is the kind of self shading that Britney stans do and never realize, they unconsciously put her actual music last on the list. She's all about image, which is why its such a big deal if she doesn't have her "2001ney" body, or her hair doesn't look perfect. Its not a big deal if Christina isn't slender or as sexy anymore because she still has her VOICE, which is what matters to her fans.

You are completely ignoring the impact Britney had at the beginning of the 00's and late 90's. Without Britney providing the template of success no teen female artists would have been successful. Meaning their would be no Christina who brought new blood into vocalists. There would be no Mandy, no Jessica, no Disney girls. No Miley. Without Britney there would be no Anti-Britney wave that consisted of singer-song-writer lead females such as Nelly Furtado, Vanessa Carlton, P!nk, etc. Which would have then have killed a lot of momentum that fed the need to create other pop-rock stars like Avril and Kelly Clarkson. Britney fed so many mouths. American Idol probably wouldn't have even existed without her setting the precedent she set with ...Baby One More Time because her impact as a female solo artist was massive.
All of the females in the game right now owe a debt to her because she proved that solo females in pop music could become successful again. Prior to her it was all about groups. She completely rejuvenated the pop scene. To remove her from pop culture would be to remove every female solo artist from 99' onward.
Britney did nothing to music world and will never do.
Her first album were not bad but latest one's are total mess. There is no her in her music. Not even a one percent. Not to mention she is such a flop now and seems like unknown Jessie J sold more copies of her latest album than Britney.Only true fans stay with her till now, when in the "whole world" she's far from being good in sales, people respect and other.
Yes Britney was HUGE but it wasn't Madonna or Michael type of HUGE - maybe she inspired some not so much clever disney acts, but its not someting to be proud of.Her songs are typical dance song when for example Madonna did songs about current social problems and i can't see any Britney song or video to be remembered even 10 years from now.
And if her new album will be same as Femme Fatale or Circus it would sold not more than million worldwide and label would drop her.She need to change.
