I don't think so. I feel that "Lady Gaga" herself is a platform for her to get her creative expressions out. The reason why she evolved TF into TFM was so that she could progressively do what she wanted. Maybe it was to have control, or maybe it was just to make an album like BTW and see how far she could push that limit. But I'd say that "Lady Gaga" the persona is as desperate as she has ever gotten or probably ever will get. She's gotten to where she is now because of it and she's happy.

Edit: I'm not trying to say she is desperate but she did have to change who were music was marketed to, so she could sell and make a name for herself.

If we really think about it. I don't think Gaga's problem is just the music. Because her lyrics are fine. Of course this era had preachy elements I mean that WAS the theme. She's not necessarily producing the whole album either. I just feel like maybe it's that she needs to change up who it is that's producing her albums. I'm not saying she shouldn't work with DJWS, Or FG but maybe she should mix it up you know? RedOne is also on the verge of becoming overused and sooner or later she will no longer see him as her star. Some of her best stuff was produced by RedOne and Space cowboy. She has a knack for using producers that are not as mainstream and turning her sound into something that's catchy and dance worthy.

All in all I just feel that the sound she was aiming for sonic-ally did not translate well because she most likely had too many ideas (busy on tour) and did not really know how to construct them in a more fluid way radio friendly manner.

I didn't like how some of the songs are produced to perfection and then feature Garageband vocals

Gaga can make a good ballad if she really wants to. She just needs to drop the rock-ballad act.

Besides, her return-to-dance-form single flopped much harder than her honky-tonk-rock-pop-wannabe-shania ballad did.

Actually nope all her ballads dont suck. + They always help to sells. Anyone who think Speechless didnt push The Fame and The Fame Monster sales is delusional.

Just Dance + Poker Face + Love Game + Paparazzi and the Fame barely sold 4 millions WW.
