But, I mean, as long as the album continues to sell, it shouldn't matter. Why are you so focused on something so small, like a single's success? The only people that pay attention to that are people like us, on forums.
So much of her success is based on being in the public eye though.
If she just has a bunch of flop singles, she won't be on radio and her performances will be detached from the viewers.
You guys will probably get your way anyway. With how extremely proud of the album she still seems, and her tweeting about the sales multiple times now, it doesn't seem like she's gonna wrap it up.

But her "flop" singles this era haven't kept her from being named Entertainer of The Year or her album and singles being named some of the best of dozens of year-end list or Grammy nominations. It's not always the general public that matters. There are loads of big artists that don't get played on the radio a lot and yet remain some of the most relevant and successful artists we have.

What brought a massive attention on GaGa was her videos and you cannot deny that!
Everyone was praising the fact she renewed the genre and that she was the best hing that's happened to music vid business since Michael Jackson!
Everybody was holding their breathe until she unveiled her videos and this until the Judas vid... You can't deny it it's a fact!
Today a vid can actually help the success of a song, look how WFL did after the vid, which is really good was unveiled!
I agree with you, lol. It's just I hate this whole "professional director = awesome video" philosophy people seem to have because it's not completely logical. I think with MTN, she proved that she's getting better.
PopDust named Edge Of Glory the 9th best song of 2011 , i keep seeing that song in all the countdowns of 2011
just proving how critically acclaimed it was and for me at least it's my favorite song she's done

It's a masterpiece. It should have had the same success as Bad Romance or even Telephone/Paparazzi. It kills me every time looking at its total sales.

To be honest with you, I party share you sentiment. I think she should only release one more single. By releasing single after single she has more to lose than to gain. The tracks left on the album are dangerously experimental. Eventually, she may alienate herself from her pop audience to a point of no return-- a point where radio and it's audience reject her brand completely etc etc.
I need Scheisse or Hair. The rest of the album can stay in the pits.

it sucks that it only sold a 2.2 million , i would of been happy with 3 but i love how it's like her 3rd or 4th biggest radio hit i heard that song so much this summer , my radio station *****d that song out
That being said, I don't think that Gaga could release a song (that y'know would make sense to release) that won't go at least top 40.
I simply can't be pleased with AP's Entertainer of the Year etc. etc. only getting Top 40 hits.
Maybe that's where the difference is lying between the two sides of this conversation. With all of the hype around her, I think she SHOULD be getting those Top 10 hits.

Well the thing is that you cannot just get better with music vids, especially when you are Lady GaGa and that you have set the bar with BR and Telephone.
You need to pull a perfect vid in terms of directing skills, which only a professional can do.
But then she can bring in her ideas, which are good! It's not a shame for a singer, no matter how talented you are, to ba bad at directing.
She needs her vids to be on point not just getting better (in fact they're getting worse)

That will never happen.
What does she have to lose by releasing more singles?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't -- as Kelly Clarkson said, "you can't win."
As Britney says, "I just want more."
....and that's all fans want...is more, more, more without rationally thinking about what "more" could possibly entail.....so GaGa will probably give us more singles, but lets not have breakdowns when Bloody Mary can't crack the Bubbling Under.

Yes, its radio success was respectable.
And she took what little momentum she had gained from that era and released Yoü and I.
Oh Gaga - what a roller coaster this era has been.
