It is confusing, but she wouldn't be shooting herself in the foot. The public gave up on Madonna a few years after she started pissing everyone off and look where that got her. You don't NEED the general public because all it is good for is #1 hits on the charts, and, as we all should know, #1 hits mean nothing in the long run. As long as she continues to make her fans happy and make good music, the critics will love her and she will go no where.
I mean, come on, guys, look at this era. No huge hit singles but the album has sol very well. We shouldn't be worried.
