Why are people saying stuff like "Oh she would have hit #1 with just one performance anyway", to justify the discounts? If Katy wanted that #1 so bad she would have worked for it by promoting and not just sit back and wait on discounts and last minute remixes.

No one is justifying that LFN mess. I was just clearing the fact that that discount/remix wasn't needed in the first place. It would have gone #1 cause that's what Capitol wanted, they could have done 1 or 2 performances some week or just go with the cheap/lazy/easy route.

No one is justifying the discounts.  they are only saying that WITHOUT the discount AND a performance it would have probably gone #1.
And why blame Katy? Do you know her? Do you work at Capitol? Elaborate please.

Why don't you elaborate on where I said I was blaming Katy for it. Just because I said Katy should have gone out promoting? Obviously I mean her and her label should have organised promo rather than do the cheap remix.

Ready for Capitol to invest 500,000 in advertising the remix, another half mill to bribe radio to make it 140 mill or more airplay, bribe itunes so they can make it 29 cents, 4 performances, 20 tweets from katy telling us to buy it, and for katy to act surprised when her next award is introduced by a forced capitol speech about "why i think katy perry is the master of pop" and for her award to say "the first person ever to have 6 number ones in one album"
