but most of the songs selling now and being played now took off before the christmas freeze. mtn was released right when the christmas freeze started. i think it's safe to say it's a flop, but it might pick up after the new years thing.

I'm holding on to one last morsel of hope for the New Year's Eve special. I know it mightn't be much, but it could help out a bit. The UK may be different from the US, I don't know, but I remember when Paolo Nutini performed in 2009 his album went to #1 for a few weeks afterwards, having been a non-factor in the weeks leading up to it...

While MTN keeps falling (#31 now), The Born This Way album goes up one place and sits at #21. With sales increasing hard in the last few weeks, going up one place is a sign of a quite big increase!

Yeah, we don't know that... yet. You and I only went top ten because of the VMAs, so MTN MIGHT have a shot with the New Year's thing. Last year, the show pulled in somewhere between 6 and 8m viewers, so you never know.

Tell that to most of Gaga's earlier singles. Not sure 100%, but not even Bad Romance smashed this early.

iTunes MIGHT be better after the New Year's Eve thing. And radio is so unpredictable you really can't say whether it's going to die tomorrow or exploding in January.

Anyway, it is keeping album sales high WW, something Y&I failed to do, so I'm not that bothered by it flopping. The only bad thing is that the top10 streak is most likely ending; on a positive note, there won't be the "top10 streak" pressure for the next singles.

You kind of can when other songs are still getting +1m BEFORE Christmas, I can only imagine their updates post-Xmas.

It only needs a big station to put it on PR and it will start getting massive updates. Spins increases aren't that bad, we can only wait.
