Those avies are tacky and too 2000 and late. Remind me of the prehistoric era of music boards. They have too many elements, tacky colors and unnecessary divisions.

Those are REAL avatars.

We might not put effort and just have a gif or image as an avi, but if anything, we should have avatars like the ones that Matty posted, and not like the ugly ones you posted in the OP.

I agree, Matty's avatars are really good. He is one of the few people I see very dedicated to avatar making. I miss musiclover's too. I think they knew how to do great new, fresh avatars. Accordng to what I've seen, looks like there were more ATRLers dedicated to avatar making. It would be cool to see a bunch of new people dedicated to avatar making.

I would also like to point out that experience tells us that what is considered 'cool' today will be old within years. This website evolved, so did their avatars.

I think the problem I've always had with those type of avatars is that they look so ... childish. Really cheap and cheesy and ... well let me stop there.

See Korean Dream's comparison - the old is just so off and awful. Her current avatar is slick, precise and dynamic - it really does offer a three-dimensional experience. The old ones were so 1-D it wasn't even funny.
