I love Gaga's voice so she could sing the phonebook to me and I'd play it on repeat.
But I agree that I didn't initally LOVE marry the night.
The Ma Ma Marry part was very awkward at first but it grew on me. The video cemented my love for the song and while the beginning of the song is rocky, the last minute and a half blow it out of the water for me-- It's just incredible.

Look at her other singles. Y&I received twice as much radio play and it's almost at 2m. Radio play is the problem. Why they won't play it more, I have NO idea.
Apart from it being a bit repetitive, it's a great song and is considered one of her best. All of the people who heard the album before the album came out claimed that MTN was one of the best songs. The song is not the problem, maybe Gaga's image is. Her image is the only thing I can think of that's keeping radio stations from playing her.

I think if the general public was more exposed to MTN (got more airplay) then more people would like it. I don't think it's a song that catches you instantly, it takes a couple listens. Also the synth can be a bit heavy, but that's an issue across the whole album. Maybe it's just not a radio song .... I think it would have fared off much better had it been the first single like initally proposed.
I think you may be right about image, but if that's truly the problem then all future singles will be in danger and i truly hope that's not the case.
