Disappointments: There were NO church bells from the instrumental. They could have sounded so ****ing epic, but I guess the pre-song electric chords were nice too. I thought the "bedazzler" line was sort of corny and that whole scene was subpar. The directly could have been a little better and less choppy. The dancing scene in NY when Gaga is wearing blue lipstick is pretty mediocre. Her "M" shaped hair for the scenes with the cars just looks insane/fake/out of place.
Other than the above, the video was pretty amazing. It took me a few times to really soak in everything. The ballet scene was beautiful. Her acting was very impressive. Her knife/backstabbing and gummybears/recording contract symbolism was also pretty creative. Her commentary on trauma, memories, and art was surprisingly pretty deep and gave us a glimpse of her psyche. She's so talented, spontaneous, creative, and completely badass. That's what I love about her. She goes all out all the ****ing time. She takes risks artistically and musically that her pop contemporaries simply don't have the balls to do. This video is about her never giving up on herself and always believing that she could be a superstar even she had hit rock bottom. I actually got a little unexpectedly teary eyed towards the bridge when she's dancing in the studio and smiling and dancing flawlessly in heels while the other scene with her on top of the car flashes sporadically
. It was just amazing to see Gaga reveal this part of her to us, and showing us how sincerely and completely she is invested in her music and her art. This is her dream and she will never give up on it.
I absolutely love it.
